Looking at the FEI numbers for this game:

Offense:
GT #107
FSU #26

Defense:
GT #46
FSU #53

Suddenly, FSU's offense is actually good. GT's offense...well, we have one. The defenses are pretty much equal. The question will be whether our offense can score points...especially with a questionable QB situation.

Thanks.
I remember when tech played teams and their stats greatly improved in all areas .

It would be nice to see the above stats AND an updated version post FSU

Pretty wild that we had one of the best safeties in the country this year sitting on our bench last year, when our safeties last year were one of the weakest groups on the team.
A lot of our issues were (reportedly) some combination of our players freelancing instead of doing what they were coached to do and/or conflicting calls. We had the safety and the linebackers hitting the same holes.

Also, even though coaches try to pick the best players, look at NCST and Russell Wilson—they dumped him for his backup. Sometimes coaches make bad calls.

Wilson was also playing pro baseball his last season. The coach told him if he missed spring practice, he would lose his starting position. The backup was Glennon and he was set to transfer if Wilson was allowed to miss spring and still start in the fall. It was a messy situation. Wilson transferred to Wisconsin. It hacked off a lot of State fans.

Maybe it wasn’t the best example. I don’t think coaches “start the wrong players” on purpose, and I’m not saying we started the wrong players last year, but coaches do make mistakes in who they play.
When Bledsoe got injured and Brady took over, the conventional wisdom was that Bledsoe would get the starting job back. Belichick showed how shrewd he was.
I think last year’s defensive issues (and the two years before) were more about overall coaching and communication issues than talent.

Anyway, back to FSU media and game day. ;)
