SI article showing Bleacher Report's "Way too Early Top 25" for 2025 season. Jackets are projected to be #25. Will GT live up to this projection or maybe better?

"The way too early top 25 lists are going to be very popular as the college football season winds down with the semifinals and then the national championship, then all eyes turn towards next season. One of the first way too early top 25 rankings comes from Bleacher Report, who ranks the Yellow Jackets 25th heading into next season. Georgia Tech is one of four ACC teams ranked in the top 25, behind SMU (7), Clemson (9), and Miami (18)."

I think Tech will be ranked all over the place for next year. The main deal is the returning O. We'll probably average over 30 pag next year and the O firepower we face, outside of Ugag and Clemson, will not be formidable. But Tech showed last season that it can play with anybody and - provided the refs are with us - beat anybody on the 2024 schedule.

This feels like a repeat of last offseason except our run D is now a lot better
I am not yet sure that will hold true next year. We lost a lot of beef in the interior of our defense and no one knows who is going to fill those roles or how well they will play. Other than Van Den Burg, we have no idea how that is gonna work. I am optimistic....but man...I really want to see a couple of big, experienced interior DL guys coming in from the portal.

Thats not exactly what I was saying. I just meant there seems to be some similarities in that people want to think our offense can take a leap into a top 20/25 offense and the defense can somehow play at a higher level.

Post-2023 Season (7-6): Top 40 Offense that will be returning (almost) everybody, Top 75 Defense with atrocious Run D that had a lot of moving pieces on the roster. A lot of folks thought that our offense could take the next step to put us in contention in 2024 for a top 25 year as long as our defense improved a decent bit and the schedule isn't too bad (which it was always going to be a tough sled). The tough schedule doesn't help even if we improve just a bit.

Post-2024 Season (7-6): Top 30 Offense that now is losing a decent amount of pieces and likely didn't live up to expectations largely in part due to injuries at the QB/RB position and OL Regression. Top 50 Defense. Vastly improved Run D with a suspect Pass D that could not generate any reliable pass rush what so ever. The Defense once again has a lot of shuffling to do.

It's way too early to tell but I'm not sure how someone could be putting us in any "early" Top 25 given our current situation some of which you mentioned.

Fixed it for you!

I would rather that Colorado is in the top 20. And no one thinks about us till we beat Colorado 38-10.
I don't know what to think about Colorado. I watched them for the third time against BYU and the pressure on Sanders (the quarterback not the coach) was nearly constant. BYU's tackling in the open field was largely impressive. Next year they could be exciting like they were this year or they could take a major step back. They will not get better without better linemen on both sides of the ball. Seems like I posted that last comment about some other team...can't think who it was.

7-6...followed by 7-6. Some would say that consistency is positively "Chanastic"

Georgia Tech

The return of both Haynes King and Aaron Philo give Georgia Tech one of the better quarterback situations in the ACC, and given the way Brent Key has developed and prepared this team for its biggest games it's hard to think there isn't another strong showing ahead in 2025. Both players provide the kind of athleticism that makes Georgia Tech's offense hum and you get the combination of King's experience with a player in Philo who flashed during his true freshman season. The Yellow Jackets finished in a tie for 4th place in the ACC standings this year, and flexed their muscles late in the year with the win against Miami and near-upset of Georgia in eight overtimes. They lost some notable talent to the portal, for sure, but I like Georgia Tech to be a sleeper that can challenge Clemson, Miami and others in the ACC. -- Chip Patterson
