Two story lines worth watching and rooting for:
- Jacob Eason rejuvenated
- Justin Fields for Heisman
Their success at Washington and Ohio State, respectively, should do wonders for Georgia's ability to recruit quarterbacks in the future.
Eason on the year has thrown 13 TD vs 3 INT, for 1,692 yards, and a 66% completion percentage. His team is 5-2 and ranked in the top 25.
Fields has shown what QB development looks like since his arrival at Ohio State. Without sitting out a year and a single offseason of real QB coaching, he is a Heisman front-runner, with 18 passing TD vs. 1 INT, an almost 70% completion percentage, and 1,298 yards passing on the year. His team is a playoff contender. What would it say about Kirby Smart if he had a Heisman winner under his nose, and he failed to prioritize and play him?
On the other hand, Jake Fromm has been less glamorous than the aforementioned, with 9 TD vs. 3 INT. His completion % is up in part due to the fewer yards/completion this year. The perception of Georgia's boring offense while having an asset such as Fromm is interesting fodder for discussion. Add in the progression of his former competition for QB1 and you have a nice recipe for the recruiting trail.
