Maybe I'm just crazy, but I would rather beat ugag than win the ACC. Idk, maybe I'm just sick of being blown out the past 3 years.

I feel that. It’s hard for me to fully appreciate a season after losing to Georgia. Especially after losing the bowl game. Don’t get me wrong, beating Clemson twice and winning the ACC is a great year, but thinking about that Georgia loss really takes a lot of the magic out of 2009 for me. There have been so many opportunities in this modern era to make the series more respectable, and so many of them were blown.

Augusta mentioned how he believes a team’s record in 1 possession games really shows their true colors. There have been 15 one possession COFH games this era. Tech is 6-9, which honestly isn’t terrible and about where I think Tech should stand against uGA. It just sucks that those 6 wins are the only wins Tech has put up. Really wish that record could be 8-7 though after winning in 06 and 09. Wasting ranked teams on unranked Georgia teams blows.

Gailey’s program was very good at talent development. We had a lot of 3* recruits that developed into NFL draft picks

This was Gaileys strong point. I'd have to go back and dig it up, but there was an article once during his tenure that reranked the recruiting classes down the road and some of CCGs classes were reranked top 10, and one or two were in the top 5. And he didn't just do it with 3*s, he recruited more 2* athlletes than CPJ did. He had an eye for talent, which was why I was leery of firing him in 2007 after that monster class.

2014 and 2009 gave some great memories for sure. Rank as the 1a and 1b for me. Enough on the scale on both sides to take one over the other.

Thanks to you all for helping stir some warm memories.

1948 was similar Georgia Tech started the season 6-0 and ranked #6 and lost 3 out of 4 games to Tennessee,Alabama and UGAG finishing 1948 with a 7-3 record.
I think the fact that GT lost the last three games by 3 pts (UGS, ACCCG, Bowl Games) might be worse than 64,61, 0r 48.... As it truly was soul crushing and CGC was gone shortly after 06...

I can't speak to the 64,61, 0r 48 games but the 2006 season made me despise Gailey and Nix. Our defense played lights out but stayed on the field forever due to an anemic offense.
The script was terribly familiar. Our Offense would generate ~17 points thru three or four big plays and churning three and outs for the rest of the game. Meanwhile, Our D would hold onto the lead until the last six minutes; where they would be gassed and give up a long game losing scoring drive.
