We are 3-4. Some of y’all picked us to be 1-6 right now.

3-4 is the same record as…
  • Miami, who started the season ranked in the top 15.
  • West Virginia
  • Iowa State
  • Nebraska, who puts a lot more money into football than we do.
  • Iowa, who’s QB may ACTUALLY be worse than Zach Gibson.
  • Michigan State, who started the year ranked 11.
  • Texas A&M, who started in the top TEN.
  • Auburn
  • Stanford (who beat ND)
  • Cal
  • and Arizona
and is better than…
  • Boston College
  • Virginia Tech
  • Northwestern (in an even year too)
  • NIU!!!!!!! (lol had to put em in here)
  • Colorado (our distant enemy from 1990)
  • and our crosstown friend Georgia State.
It could be worse! So while this season could be bad from here on out, we’re still on stable ground compared to other programs.

And even today we have a shot at the Coastal title (ok, mainly that is because almost the whole division is dog crap, but someone has to go to the ACC CG.)
After this weekend GT is still in the second best spot in the division.
UNC is 3-0 and has road wins against both Miami and Duke.
Duke (2-2), Pitt (1-2) and Miami (1-2) have 2 losses each. But we have the head to head against Duke and both Duke and Miami lost tiebreaker to UNC. Duke has the head to head over Miami.

FWIW, here is UNC's remaining schedule
Pitt
@UVA
@Wake
GT
NC ST

They will likely be favored in 4 of the 5, but they do have to play 2 of the better Atlantic teams.
FWIW, Miami gets FSU, @Clemson for their 2 cross-division games.

We can't lose more than 1 more conference game (and it likely has to be not against UNC) but the Coastal still has something of a race.

I feel like that Wake-UNC game should have alot of points. If I was a betting man that is one i'd take the over.

Red have you been smoking the formerly illegal stuff? You are accurate, however, GT has zero chance of winning the Coastal Division. Not based on mathematical chance, just watching us play. We are a BA team. No chance we can score enough points to beat teams with just average offenses. UNC actually has a good offense.

Not me. I have been on record since last spring when the schedule came out that we would be 3-4 after game 7, then run the gauntlet 1-4 to finish 4-8. I only had the sPitt and Uva games reversed in my preseason predictions post. I had VaPoly as our remaining win.

Misery loves company, I guess.

I may be wired differently, I do not base my happiness or disappointment with Tech sports relative to how well or how poorly other teams may be doing. I try to temper my expectations, as much as possible, but then adjust to the realities of how we are playing.

I had us at 3-4 right now in the preseason, so we are right on schedule where I thought we would be. Having said that, we beat a better Pitt team on the road and lost to a worse UVA team at home. I had the UVA game as a win in the preseason regardless of who coached. I did not think they would beat us here on a Thursday night. The fact that we lost to them in the manner that we did after they had played much worse than expected and we had won two games in a row, only increases my disappointment. I only had us a seven point win, because I could see being a bit overconfident after the last two games, but then straightening it out as we were clearly a better team. Foolish of me to think that we had improved at all.

Now, I think we will beat VPISU and get a lucky win against either Da U or UNCheat. The four wins by Key will have some people saying he showed enough improvement to warrant an offer, but not me. He blew his chance with that loss. You do not get 10 days to prepare and lay an egg like that and get a job offer.

Agree with you on all of this.

Yeah I was up on Key a little and thought he warranted an interview, but he had well over a week to prep for UVA. And that was his O Line that was caving on every play.

Let's move on.

Problem is if we move on every time, we lose a game we will have more coaches than anyone else. One loss is not a reason to move on let's see how the rest of the season plays out.
