And we would be money ahead even if we pay for it. A physical barrier will do more good than any other combination of ideas spewed by the dems. Let's stop the bleeding now.

Why would you oppose a physical barrier that's difficult to scale between the US and Mexico when the men and women defending our border say that we need one? Do you really hate Trump that much?

If the wall is built to keep them out, could it later be used to keep us in?

Such attitudes make people like you personally responsible for the deaths of American citizens like that policeman in California who was just shot by an illegal immigrant who already had two DUI arrests on his record and was never deported by the Sanctuary state of California. Congratulations. Hope you feel vindicated. Oh, but Mexico never sends us drugs or bad people, do they? Saying that would be "racist", right?
Democrats have voted against EVERY attempt to secure the border...not just the Wall. Every. Single. Attempt. Thanks, libs.

If walls don't work, why did they erect them around the White House?

Heck, why do liberals lock their doors at night? Shouldn't they welcome people who want to come in illegally and uninvited, no matter what? Or are they all racists?

The administration missed its best chance for a wall when they controlled the WH, Senate and House for the past two years. Waste of a golden opportunity.
History is full of accomplishments by both parties when they controlled both houses of congress and the WH. Last best examples were 2017 tax cut and Obamacare. My impression was that congressional Republicans just did not want to build a wall and the WH did not push it.

For the record the feds do not own enough property along the border to build a wall if they had the money. Everybody and their uncle have lawyers, including the feds, to fight over eminent domain. Years of litigation are on the table.

Some so-called Republican senators were either Trump haters (Flake) or fake conservatives ...but of course, it takes 60 doesn't it?

Surely some of them must have a spare bedroom or two to house a couple families of illegals. What better good could you do for society than to house 8-10 fine freedom seekers trying to have the American dream.

Well we have over 30 million illegal immigrants currently living here. 25% of Mexico now lives here. What alternative idea do you have to stop the huge over supply of unskilled labor which for decades has crushed middle class wages? What alternative idea do you have to enforce our immigration laws? To keep out bad people and drugs? I think most of us have no particular marriage to the wall or Trump. But it’s the next best logical idea when everything else so far has failed. Other ideas happily entertained.

Citation? Because that number is about 3x other estimates.

I don’t have a huge opinion one way or the other on immigration, but good decisions won’t be made unless we have facts.

There are reports that nearly 10 million illegal immigrants pay taxes. That ratio (equating to 30 million total residents) would jive with a normal family population. Banks have done studies based on money flow and transactions back to Latin America. Those sorts of estimates are much more accurate than guesses or asking lawbreakers to self respond.

Yale study estimates 20-30 million illegal immigrants:
    https://insights.som.yale.edu/insig...undocumented-immigrants-as-previous-estimates

MIT study estimates 20 million illegal immigrants:
    https://www.bloomberg.com/news/arti...bles-estimates-of-u-s-undocumented-immigrants

There is a Bear Sterns study that estimated 30 million - I can’t find the study right now to link to, but I’ve read it before.

Earlier I said nearly 10 million illegal immigrants pay taxes. I think I misquoted that - I think it’s nearly 10 million work and around 5 million pay taxes. If nearly 10 million work, there is no possible way that anywhere close to only 10 million are here.

It will be interesting to see who blinks first. Will the dems give in to billions for a border wall or will Trump capitulate and sign a continuing resolution to open the ancillary areas of the government without border security. It will be the Trump-Pelosi show in just a few days so get that popcorn ready.

If I’m Trump, I just let the dems fight against a border wall while government workers wail in the streets. He needs to stand up for what is most important for the safety of our country, and I believe that the socialist dems will end up looking stupid in the process.
