The whole emergency thing is really stupid. There is no emergency in college football worth risking the health of a player who isn't healthy enough to play. Either a guy can go or he can't. I'm not sure why we are making it complicated. Maybe it's to keep the other teams guessing.

I was told it is a torn tendon.

I think he has managed to create that culture in Athens. No doubt the 5-star and 4-star talent doesn't hurt but I think a lot of their success is due to the culture of physical, mental, and spiritual toughness he has created. It's something Georgia Tech needs to build and incorporate to our football program going forward.

Go Jackets!
We used to have this, then our program became infested with NFL jock sniffers that were all in it for themselves.

Pyron, prior to this injury, wasn't going to be redshirted. That was just people on the internet fantasizing over it. Key was going to start Pyron the rest of the way barring miraculous healing on Sims part.
Silver lining is that he will absolutely redshirt now.

Jeff has missed a substantial portion of the time he has been on the team. He has missed time all 3 years due to injury. Some guys just are not built to sustain the physical beating the game inflicts upon you. Others play with pulled muscles, broken bones, or severe illness. I attribute that to a somewhat intangible, mental toughness that some folks have and others don't. I heard Kirby Smart talking to his team about that recently. He basically was telling his team that they had reached the point in the season where you have to dig deep and overcome the aches and pains and mental fatigue that a football season brings upon you. He basically said you do it for the team and the guys that are in the foxhole fighting with you and for you. I think he has managed to create that culture in Athens. No doubt the 5-star and 4-star talent doesn't hurt but I think a lot of their success is due to the culture of physical, mental, and spiritual toughness he has created. the bolded part is simply not true

Duh, we used to play like a team. It was all about the team. You been following us the last 4 years?
yes. i just don’t see it as guys being in it for themselves. i see that as an easily digestible narrative for people that are unable to articulate football reasons why we have struggled

It's a team sport, if that's too hard to understand here:

a. This is not golf
b. This is not tennis
c. This is not swimming, bowling or badminton
d. Nor is it figure skating, wrestling, boxing or track & field

11 guys line up each play in football, in our case 10 plus a TE that's a non-contributor. I've never seen 11 guys trying to make 1 putt, returning a serve, etc. Send me a link if you got one.

i never said this wasn’t a team sport. i just don’t know why you chose to demean our student athletes calling them nfl jock sniffers

Come on man. If it were that serious then he wouldn’t be dressed…and his dad wouldn’t be telling him to go in the game either. If he truly refused to go into the game then he either needs to leave the team on his own or be dismissed. That kind of crap sets a bad example for other players and shouldn’t be tolerated.

Again…if it’s even true.
Exactly, we were told that he practiced last week and was a full go if needed. He refused to help this team in a winnable game that could have helped us get to a bowl game. Keys press conf confirmed that he wouldn’t go in and multiple people heard his Dad try to get him in the game.

Pray that it’s not his throwing arm, I broke my collar-bone in 3 places mountain biking four years ago and had to get surgery to put a metal plate over it and it is still not the same, weaker on that side and hurts if anything hits it or presses too hard, Mentally it messed me up in the head for fast mountain-biking

what does this even mean?

It's little brother syndrome rearing it's head pretending that players who want to go to the NFL are only in it for themselves while the players we used to have (read players playing in the option which wasn't going to prepare most for the NFL) played for the team and so are somehow better because of it.

yeah that’s what i figured lol

i think this place wants to be the little brother rallying against the big boys and their fun shotgun offenses and nfl draft picks more than they want to win games sometimes

You've never seen a player play with a cast on his wrist, hand or arm? Never seen a player playing with an ace bandage wrapped around their thigh to try and assist a pulled muscle? Never seen a player throw up and keep going even though he has an upset stomach? Those things show up at almost every game I have ever watched.
