Just thought this deserved its own thread. GT’s PFF special teams grade was 90.0 against VT. I looked at the data and this is the highest grade GT special teams has received in the PFF College era, beginning in the 2016 season.

Zeek Biggers graded out at 93.0 and Daylon Gordon at 90.3. They’re also the two top graded special teams players for the entire season. Lamiles Brooks played 20 special teams snaps (only Christian Pritchett played more [24]) and graded out #3 at 82.2. Henry Freer and Abdul Janneh were the two lowest graded players, by a significant margin. The three lowest graded players this season are Rodney Shelley, Henry Freer (missed all 4 tackle attempts in addition to poor snaps), and Jackson Hawes (Hawes has one of the lowest grades I’ve ever seen - a result of his extremely low score against Louisville and being average every other game).

Key walked the walk on this one.

Has Hawes been hurt? He started the season on fire and then seemed to be absent midseason
He’s played the last two weeks but we haven’t put him out there on special teams since his disaster performance against Louisville. He’s was also a poor special teams performer at Yale last season.

He’s been an average run blocker this season but a good pass blocker. Unfortunately, he run blocks 3.5x as much.

oddly Hawes started vs fsu as a hero in run blocking. The drop-off to other TEs was obvious but he's fallen off a lot.
