I think that line is meant to suggest that UGA fans can only be smug about football, as in, they don't have a university to truly take pride in. Of course, that isn't really much of an insult anyway so could have been written better. But it fits the idea of Tech students taking pride in being called "nerds" by UGA fans by calling them "my future employees."
