Another day of pleasant summer weather greeted the Yellow Jackets Friday afternoon, who practiced for the second time during #GTCAMP14. Georgia Tech was in shorts and helmets again Friday, and is set to wear shells for Saturday morning’s workout.

Tech will break-in a new starting quarterback this season, and both sophomore Justin Thomas (Prattville, Ala.) and junior Tim Byerly (Alpharetta/Chattahoochee HS) continue to get a bulk of the reps in practice. During the 7-on-7 period, Byerly found redshirt freshman receiver Bennett Barton (Roswell/Roswell HS) , who reeled in an acrobatic grab over the middle for a big gain. Thomas and senior A-back Tony Zenon (Albany/Deerfield Windsor Academy) connected down the seam for a 35-yard pickup. The defense made statements as well, with interceptions from true freshman Lance Austin (Barnesville/Lamar County HS) and junior Tyler Marcordes (Normal, Ill.), who returned his for a touchdown.

Well it could be because they were is helmets and jerseys today, it's tough to scrimmage when you don't have on pads. Also, you think it may have something to do with the fact Tech will see multiple WR sets this year along with geting Tech's @WR and A backs some work? ;)

Helps with song the routes and one on one match ups, just a scrimmage with out the line men for the most part, strictly for one on one, coverage and routes iv would hope it's just as good for the offense add for the defense

B back well it could be a wheel route, a swing route, maybe even a a flat route and/or possibly a seam route. DBs and LBs still need to see what would be a traditional FB do in the passing game.
