It's a dirty staff. Cutting kids the evening before the first game is disgusting. Most schools make cuts in the fall so the kids can transfer if they want to play. Pitching coach is a tyrant. If you don't do exactly what he says when he says it - you won't play. Finateri and Bussey are good examples of why this staff is so bad. Those guys have been loyal to GT but with this new pitching coach - the environment is TOXIC.

Exactly right. The issue is when they get to GT, the coaches want to change everything they originally "loved" about them. Taylor tried to change every single pitcher this year and it failed miserably. GT finished dead last in ERA in the ACC. Making pitchers change their entire routine, their mechanics, all they have ever known just can't be productive. This is why the pitchers are leaving and it started in the fall with Schmolke. He refused to change to Taylor's pitching and made the move to Wake. Now we have no starting pitching besides Tate McKee. McGuire and Hill both going in draft and the rest left. Going to be difficult to recruit as well with the reputation of the coaching. Kids would love to play at GT just not for this staff.

Wow sounds like you may know some of the players or maybe one of the players.

Certainly sounds like someone with an axe to grind. Brand new poster so it could also be an existing poster with a new profile with an axe to grind. Maybe it's our ex pitching coach? With the name Shanna it sounds like a female, maybe a girlfriend at Tech who is upset her boyfriend has to transfer somewhere else? Who knows, but I will say this in Taylor's defense. He has had 2 or 3 pitchers that played under him at GA State transfer to Tech. Why would they do that if he is the tyrant described above. Also, I'm sure the Braves and Coach Hall would have spoken to players and coaches who know him before they hired him and I doubt what is described above would make him a desirable hire.

Yeah, and we were also last in the ACC last year with a pitching coach that was not described as a tyrant lol. Maybe we need someone to come in and change routines. He mentioned Schmolke as a guy and I really like his potential, but he also had a very high ERA and almost as many walks as innings pitched as a freshman. Maybe he needed to change some mechanics and routines.

Looks like 2 good pickups to me. Schmidt hit .321 with 40 walks to 33 Ks last year as a true freshman and had a .984 fielding percentage. It looks like he's going to take over 1B and maybe Neises in LF.
