Just visited a couple of their message boards. Their coach is in his third year, and went 8-5 in each of his first two seasons.

They're coming off a pair of losses to top 10 foes and they're losing their mind. Calling for the dcs head. Calling for the head coaches head. Saying they'll never compete.

Good grief! Talk about unrealistic expectations.

Pittsburgh has a rough time recruiting like we do. They are up against Penn State, Ohio State, and the rest of the Big Ten, plus WVU. The are in the same neighborhood as Notre Dame and the rest of the ACC. They looked slow, but OSU was probably very fast.

From what I understand about his quarters system he needs really good safety play for it to work and they don't really look like they have that this year. An Air Raid team is also a really bad matchup for what his D tries to do, so the OSU game was going to be ugly for the defense regardless.

their best safety wasn't playing. He's playing against us though.

Well, we kind of went crazy in 2015. "Unrealistic expectations" are part of the deal in college football. A team has a pretty good season and is entertaining as Pitt was last year then the fans expect the same the next year even with pretty significant graduation losses, coaching changes etc. It's what we as fans do (expect miracles from coaches and players)

Yep, Tech fans weren't too thrilled with how 2015 unfolded, having lost so many fine starters to graduation. Pitt could be facing a season similar to that. Sucks for teams which have to rebuild rather than reload.

Also, Pitt fans complain about lack of institutional support for athletics. Sound familiar?

Tech was a lot more competitive in all those losses in 2015 than Pitt has been so far. But they've played some seriously good teams and were hanging OK with PSU for a while. We have plenty chance to lose to them, but we should be favored solidly. Special teams and turnovers are probably going to be the keys (again) to winning. Possible they'll be in self-destruct mode and help us out, but it seems just as often teams like that pull it together and play a complete game in their next one.

Considering I've seen Tech fans call for Roof to be fired after a win, I don't know where the barometer for sane lies.
