Naming his salary is good for our recruiting, but for Perkins' best interest I hope he deletes the post...

Congratulations!!

He can always play football in the fall and start work in January. He has an outside chance at the NFL, but the certainty of a good job. That's what GT is about - getting a good job and being able to take care of your family.

Why delete the post?

He has two choices, right? Taking the job or coming back to play ball. I don't think he thinks he can take the job and play ball also.

It's possible to do both if the employer's willing to work with him. Maybe they don't bring him in right away. Surely they're aware he plays football.

These are the things we have to tout to recruits. Come here and this is what you could have in lieu of selling cars or working retail with a useless factory degree.

If the job starts January 2015, then he can do both. Or, maybe they are sending him to grad school first. It's not that uncommon. Based on his own tweet, he's going to be here. That's all we really need to know. The rest is his business.

This has happened a good bit recently with GT football grads.

The NCAA has recently done an add campaign where it highlights college SA's "going pro" in something other than their sport. GT should waving this banner at the front of the procession and it should help us recruit. However, high school kids with their sights set on the NFL are completely blind to this message and it's a shame. Actually, it's a sham as well as a shame. It's a sham because the factories perpetuate the myth that they don't really need the actual school part of school to succeed in life. Or worse, they give lip service to the message and then funnel the kids into worthless degree programs just to keep them eligible.

Many of the factory schools, including UGAg, have many degrees with negative ROIs (the kids don't get professional jobs or anything remotely related to their "studies"). But the kids get to spend their parents money and party and "find themselves". And the school makes money. It's a great system.

Not to get in the way of uga hate, but they are consistently ranked number 2 in ROI, behind us of course...further a scholarship football player would have to try really hard to have a 'negative' ROI considering the investment would be 0.
