I know it is time to move on, but I couldn't resist listening to the Inside Carolina podcast which about a week ago featured a rather long interview with Coach Collins. I'll say this much. For a DC , he sure gives a lot of interviews. If this interview had a title it would be something like. "Let's talk about me." I wonder if some of the objective UNC fans and media are seeing the same thing?

The Wreck was stored for years at the Ford plant in Doraville according to my father-in-law who was a 1947 grad.

The old Ford plant in Hapeville used to make the Ford Taurus and Mercury sable, and of course other cars prior to that. It is now the location of the Porsche test track down by the airport.

The old GM plant in Doraville, now is going to be a mixed use development, it already has a film studio and a car dealership on the site.

I remember the first time I saw the Ramblin' Reck garage and thought how classy it looked. Beautiful piece of architecture for sure. The school has done a great job with that part of campus over the last 15 years. I'm glad to see students using Tech Green now too. I'm 99% sure we were forbidden from stepping on the grass my entire time at Tech which I always thought was such a waste of a great recreation/study/hangout spot.

Tech Green was a drainage nightmare for years. I remember my freshman year they held the homecoming concert there, place was a muddy pond for weeks afterward. They tore up and redid a lot of the green just before COVID and now it looks gorgeous.

Must have been the GM plant then. It was in Doraville. I haven't lived in Atlanta for 50 years now. Just visit now.
It was on 285. I think the general manager of the plant was a Tech grad. My father-in-law died in 1992 and he knew the plant manager. Said it was kept in a very safe location there to avoid any damaging pranks.
If the plant was closed it is the reason GT had to create a garage on campus.

The Wreck was moved back to campus before the GM plant was closed.

Correct. A recent Alumni magazine had a story about the new garage for the Wreck. I don't remember the details, but they mentioned a serious need for better storage before the new facility was built.

If off of 285, definitely the old GM plant then. Cool to know about it! 😎
