GT Fans,

We've all had many spirited discussions on here about the state of GT Athletics funding, or rather the lack thereof, and how we have fallen behind our competition. Well, now is the time for each of us to do what we can to change that.

A friend and I have created a site (with the help and sanction of the GT Athletic Association) that we believe makes giving simple, along with giving you the ability to easily share it with your network via social media, text, email, etc.

We are pretty excited to launch G.T.F.A.M - Giving Tech Fifty a Month.

The initial goal of this initiative is to help raise the final dollars for the new Edge Center.

https://swarmnation.atfund.org/campaigns/gtfam

By clicking on the above link you will see a few messages from me and my friend regarding why we believe it's important to donate and where the money will go. The thought is, that while most people can't stroke a big check to GT, they may be able to give smaller amounts on a monthly basis (which will add up over time). Through the above site you can make a donation amount and spread it over as many as 60 months.

One of the great things about GTFAM is, because it is ear-marked for the Edge Center, the matching anonymous donor funds will apply to your gift. For example, if you give $12,500 (or $208.33/month for 60 months) the donor will match your gift, thus putting you at a total gift of $25k, which will put you in the tier of "naming rights", which will get your name on a plaque on the wall of donors in the new Edge Center. However, as with any fundraising, we will take what we can...it doesn't have to be $200/month....we will take $50, $100....whatever you feel comfortable with.

Also, for GTFAM, all AT donor rules apply. Meaning you get the points for your donation. If your company matches you get the points. One important note: In the anonymous donor matching gift challenge, you do not get AT points for the match portion, you only get AT points for your donation amount.

Here are a few other links you may find useful:

So, please feel free to ask any questions. I'll do my best to answer them. Also, please go easy on us....we aren't professional fundraisers, just two alumni that love GT and are trying to help the cause. The link above works both on your desktop and your phone, but it definitely looks better on the desktop. Either way the "donate now" button at the bottom of the page will get you to the donation page.

Thank for the consideration. Go Jackets!

Thank you for your initiative on this. I get those AT Fund stickers every year, and honestly they're not flashy, you can't read what they say unless you're really close. I've felt for years they needed a rebranding. I've suggested things (similar to the iconic IPTAY) of something like GOLD. You have a Gold GT, then under it in block letters GOLD. Gift Of Loyalty Donation. Or insert whatever corny or clever idea you have. The idea is that it would be more hip and eye catchy and so more people would put them on their cars. And they'd be much more easily recognizable. Maybe something like GT FAM will catch on. I think we need something that people can glom onto.

Thank you! We totally agree with you. We also believe it ties in nicely with the coaches branding and culture of family.

The other piece that we believe is important is making it easy and affordable by splitting it up and making it a monthly payment.

Share it with your network.

The website should have this write up on it. Looking at just the webpage, I don't even know what GTFAM stands for

What? There is a whole section about it. 'In an effort to bring this to reality, and put GT on a level playing field with our peers, we’ve decided to create G.T.F.A.M. – Giving Tech Fifty a Month'

Thank you for the feedback. We did our best with the wordsmithing, and there’s no doubt it could be improved by more capable folks.

Continue to let me know if you think of other improvements.

In the meantime, we hope you’ll jump onboard and help us take this over the top.

Thank you. I appreciate that you took the time to read through what we wrote. That means a lot. We appreciate any support you can provide, both monetarily and by sharing with your network.

I love this idea. Just a gold decal with GOLD in white. I’d put it on my car.

GTFAM sounds like we’re raising money for a new family bathroom. Just kidding. I salute you for doing this and will seriously consider donating through your site.

My only question ... why the heck isn’t GTAA driving this?

Thanks for your interest. Regarding your last question: I’m happy to discuss via phone or private message.

the cool thing is that we are not sitting around waiting on anything. Out of love for GT, we are taking matters into our own hands and taking action. With all of your help, this will be an amazing GT fan-driven effort that we will all look back on and be proud of.

Appreciate the support! We are now just shy of $120k.

Supposedly, we got a shout out at the latest GT Athletic Association board meeting. That’s pretty darn cool!

Thank you to those that have contributed and shared this with your network. For those that haven’t yet, please consider doing so. Feel free to ask me any questions (reply here or PM).

Just added a new video from one of the coaches to the site.

We also just crossed over $130k. Thank you to those that have contributed!

For those that haven’t:

Please consider doing what you can to help take this program that we love to the next level.

Our competition isn’t slowing down. They are all raising money, too, and they’re doing quite well at it. Wake Forest raised $300 million for Athletics. Wake Forest! UNC just got a $15 million pledge for football. I’m not expecting UGA level, but we can’t let WF and UNC leave us in the dust.

And we can’t just sit back and wait for some big money donor to save us. There are enough of us on this board alone that, if we all just did the $50/month level (we all easily spend that every month on frivolous stuff, let alone something we deeply care about), it would easily surpass $1,000,000. That’s very meaningful money that will help us do some of the things we wish for on here (recruiting staff, facilities improvements, etc.).

Check out the video from one of our coaches and make your contribution here:

Just tried to join usong the link in the OP and it requires a join code. How do I get one?
Wow, thank you for going back and finding this! I had forgotten I even put this here. Funny now to see the date of Feb 21st. Man, we barely had any time before all the Covid panic porn hit, yet we were very close to $150k.

That site is dormant. Waiting on new one from the GTAA. It’s their platform.

Maybe, if any of you have the skills to help finish this out, or know someone that does, I could put you in touch with the GTAA to get this finished. There again, I believe they just lack the resources, and frankly sometimes the ingenuity, the get this done. Can anyone on here help?
