Man the tailwind behind that kick was scary.
Philo deserves a lot of credit on that winning drive. His runs did it.
But why was our running game mostly shutdown?

I think part of it was loading the box when King was in and Philo missing some reads. Haynes seemed upset a bit at times.

We got too cute putting King in for first down where he dropped the snap. Philo was playing well at that point.

And way too much blitzing without anyone spying the QB. But a win is a win. Go get another one next Saturday.

I wonder if their 3 man rush messed with our inside zone? Franklin getting rushed probably changes our point of attack somewhat.

Super pumped for this crazy win. Defense played horrible tonight especially tackling. However I can't believe how happy I am to have 7 wins going into the Dwags. I hope Haynes King is okay. I still have to wonder how this year would have looked had he been healthy. Go Jackets!

Awesome win for the seniors!!! Philo is the real deal. My one complaint is he seems to put a little too much mustard on the 10 yard passes... Hawes drops a pass in his facemask cuz of too much zip.... Eric Singleton can't pull in a TD and it ricochets to a turnover in the end zone (which fortunately we got right back)... There was a pass or two in the VT game where we could have sustained some drives if he just took just a touch off on those short passes... That or our receivers need more stickum on their gloves.

We have struggled to run against odd fronts and exotic blitzes this year. When you run a zone scheme you run into that problem. Thats teh short answer.

The long answer is in order to actually counter this we needed to get our toss run working the issue is that play really only works when it has hte threat of the midline off it or quick rpo. Ralph Freidgin would have gone to I formation sets and running his version of speed potion agains the ouside backer. Johnson would go to flex TIght and rocket toss a team doing that to death then hit them with PA (whcih we almost did just... dropped it). Nix would have ran Reggie on QB draws against 8 man coverage ( what essentially won us the game) The issue was their nose was beating double teams.

Tech didn't run zone almost all night. There might have been one or two plays but that was it.

Happy for the win, but that was a pretty pathetic performance. This shouldn't have been close. We have a lot to work on next week.

D was gassed in the 2nd half. Their four deep routs cleared the middle and left it wide open. LBs couldn’t get there. Coupla times they were blitzing. Dangerous to blitz a QB that can run.

What a crazy game. Keep the QB in the pocket! Good grief!
NCST had a great defensive plan. Our normal O was shut down. Philo is going to be great. Several of his incompletions were simply our WR didn't catch the rocket throws. UGA was watching NCST defensive scheme. Need Philo again next week to have any chance whatsoever.

The TO on the goal line, 1st and goal was ****ing awful. Like this gt D is the 85 bears and they are going to Bo up and stop them 4 times in a row. Love the win, but cbk gotta work on TO usage.

First I need to apologize in chat for saying Philo wasn’t that good . I guess watching only half drunk ain’t good I needed more than 12 beers, if I start at 4:30 . Then I need to be honest when they went ahead I took the dog out to poop. So I don’t even know how we won.
So next game I’ll get more beer and just let the dog poop on the floor.

Defense played pretty great for three quarters and atrocious for one quarter. Not sure how you evaluate that. Likewise, the offense played pretty atrocious for three quarters and made enough clutch plays in the last one.

Whatever. A win is a win. Beating a conference opponent without your starting QB healthy is never easy. 7 wins with two games left. 5-0 at home. We’re showing serious progress under Key in less than three full seasons as HC.
