A pretty good summary of our woes on offense and defense from Jackson Caudell. I realize that the question is whether the problems can be corrected with the players we currently have.

Here’s the Iowa vs Minnesota condensed game. We were getting about the same pass rush as those two teams

Maybe I count quickly. Louisville did not have all day. Their receivers were open from the beginning.

Our pass rush could be better, but our secondary was getting beaten, and getting beaten quickly. That’s clear from watching the replay.

Our CBs give an 8 yard pad at the LOS. Any slant, dig route, curl, quick out will be open. We do fairly well if the WR runs a route into a middle zone or a deep slant. If he runs a go route we are good/bad. Certain DB are constantly chasing the play.

Even giving them 6 points on two possessions, that’s still only 2.3 ppd. I don’t think we should beat our chests over the defense, as they certainly didn’t do enough to outright win. Special teams and offense definitely deserve what blame there is to give for the loss though.

Our offense including last week’s dud is averaging 2.97 ppd. Any time we can hold a team down in the low twos should be a comfortable win.
A typical game has ~10 possessions per team, not counting ends of halves. Therefore, 2 PPP (PPD) will be in the 20’s - against the offense. Assuming no defensive scores would mean an offense would need to score near 30 (3 PPP) to guarantee a win.

All coaches hate interceptions

They all know most are caused by pass rush unless qb is inaccurate.

I think our coaches have not accounted for the exceptional accracy of King and are being too cautious. Our scheme has too many pass attempt that are jr high ldvel safe. IF THE DC IS NOT BEND BUT DONT BREAK the dbs are at los to help make sure that small fast rb GETS NO LONG GAINS.

We have 1 interception and no sacks in 5 games.

Are our players so crappy they can't do more than dink and dunk?
Love HK, but is he really that accurate or is he throwing far more short passes which would enhance accuracy? I’m asking for real.

So basically the right side of the line has been sort of avg in run blocking and the left side has been below avg.
Sort of fits the eye test.
Definitely need to get that figured out.
Yea, I don't think Franklin or Williams have been much of the problem. So...that leaves 3 spots...

I will put this comment in the Conspiracy Theory Category, but could we be having some disgruntled linemen due to the "leaked" news about GT's newbie offensive lineman coming in next year at
$800K. Perhaps someone may be looking for a raise that hasn't materialized.

Below are some comments by Coach Sam Pitman concerning NIL and the ability of the players and agents being able to discuss NIL situations whereas coaches and administrators cannot.

Pitman indicates that some of these reports may be not totally true when it comes to the numbers reported.

I think its more what they are being asked to do. Agaisnt FSU we ran a lot more counter and getting them on angles to attack. Lately we've been a lot more man on man (to set up RPO stuff you have to) I think our OL is more athletic than just straight up over powering which is why for the most part they are good in pass blocking. They need the angles to clear the holes for Haynes.

It looked like to me that both Syr and Lville were stunting more than normal. And once it started working ,we couldn't adjust. That is back on the coaches to help them adjust. and/or run plays that hurt stunts.
No excuse.4 of the OLs were from last yr.

I don’t think it’s this simple. It depends on what coverage we are running and what we are expecting the other team to do. I think our zone defenders might be missing assignments. We gave up a big play Saturday when it looked like the corner in zone followed a receiver underneath over the middle only to have a TE (may have been a RB) free up wide open on the outside. I may be wrong, but I don’t think that zone defender is supposed to follow underneath…unless it was match coverage, which I struggle to fully understand.

Yep. We don’t know what they’re running most of the time.

It was a comminication bust agaisnt a zone beater type route. That particular route, slow cross from block action into wheel, is used all over the NFL to devastating effect if you can get enough time to throw it. We even use it successfully at times. One of Boyd's TDS was on a similiar route this year.

Don't care if they are 120%. Notre Dame is going to eat them alive. They are not all that great. Top 25 is nice but there is a huge chasm between wannabes like Syracuse and Louisville and the football factories.
I was a point off. Looks like line was +6.5. Not sure Louisville pulls it out but I think they can cover down to 3 points.

The will be an interesting game.
ND's offense is really pedestrian but their defense is really stout. ND's passing offense has not been very good and that is the weaker part of L'ville's D.
I don't think L'ville will be able to run the ball against ND and ND will get more pressure on Shough then GT ever did.

Low scoring game where TO's are likely to have a huge impact. Not sure I see either team getting to 20 pts.

L'ville is a little beat up with WR Thompson out for the year with the inury suffered in the GT game and their best corner is dinged up as well and may not play. Their WR who they expected to be their #1 hasn't played yet due to a collarbone injury, not sure if he is available yet for this game.

I think Buster being at UGA is used to the OL getting push even if the opponents stack the box. I don't think we have that same capability. I think we need to be less predictable on run vs. pass regardless of down and yardage situation.

I agree with Buzztheirazz. Everyone has been saying what a boneheaded play King made with the lateral. Seems to me the only thing boneheaded about it was he failed to look down the line before releasing the ball. Like Buzz, I didn't see anything but green in front of the receiver. In fact, the defender who put his hands up might have won the game for the Cards. I definitely want to see that play again, but with King looking for defenders before throwing the ball.
Since King waited too long to throw you can put some blame on him. But being fairly early in the game with such poor field position calling that tripple option was a bad call period. That is a high risk play. It is more on the coaches.
