^shouldn't that leave an enormous hole for the Bback to run through?
Ahhhhh. You noticed.

Yes, and if our BBs had ever got their act together last year, we would have done it. Personally, I think Shamire might prove to be as good as Uzzi and Shaq. People have a tendency to forget that this was his first year as a starter. Shaq was already a stud in his first year, but Uzzi had similar problems. We'll see after this spring. Personally I think we're in good shape in the center of the field.

I think Devine in a Pro Style O would be an OT.
He still needs to drop weight though and get in better conditioning. If he works hard and gets in better shape he'll be a nightmare for Defenses. I also think he may be the most talented OLineman on the team and his future is in the NFL @ OT, but he's gonna have to bus his .......

Oh I also noticed how personal this was for you.
It's cool lose weight lose weight.got it.i thought he was on a team, a family ,coaches that coach in all parts of these young men lives for the time they are there.million $ facilities with million $ contracts.where is his weight loss help ? If this is the#1 problem.of course it is ultimately up to him.who doesn't need help with a problem? Y wouldn't they want to help him . weight loss needs help that's why it's a billion $ industry. Personal maybe ,I just want to speak up for the kid.no one else is

One of the things I really noticed about Devine this season is the defense left him "uncovered" A LOT. Quite a few times I paid attention to his side, there was no defender lined up over him. When there was a defender lined up over him, Devine pretty much wiped him out.
I noticed that too.so shouldn't the coaches have notice and used that some how?

Gave u a "like" to welcome your posting to gtswarm.

I like 71 & hope he gets in football shape.

Coaching is a tough job. It seemed like 71 would be ready for rg but the defenses frequently left him uncovered and exposed his lack of open field speed. In 15 he spelled lg in 3rd q when we knew what defenses were doing and he HAD certain plays (down blocks for pulling guards) which were called when he went in.
In 2014 I barely heard the word mike linebacker 2015 that person was the most disruptive. I agree coaching is hard .so is playing for a coach. All I'm saying is I believe the kid did mostly what he was asked to do.i also agree that I hope he gets into better shape and I hope his yellow jacket family helps.

Also fair, and, TBH, I don't have a strong opinion :/ I didn't pay close enough attention to pass blocking to be able to point out who was good and not so good.

I assume from your post that he was one of the better pass blockers on the squad?
that's just it, not enough passing to have an opinion or let him show another skill.

?

Damn are all of you people posting on here ol coaches as much as you all seem to know CPJ should just turn this ol over to you all since you know so much. I don't know who you all are except flea and l would say he is probably the only one on here who knows what is going on. A past gt coach told me one time if all these fans knew as much as they think they do then why in the HELL are they not doing it for a living! GO JACKETS '!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He don't have to turn it over ,just stop being so closed minded and coach .a coach does what is needed for the team to win.

Here's a good example of what I was talking about. Against Notre Dame:

If you isolate and only watch Shamire, you can't convince me there's not 3-5 easy yards behind big 71 EVERY time. The guy is either "uncovered" or just wiping the defender out of the play. Who did we run behind in the redzone for our first TD? Big daddy 71!

My one criticism of Shamire in terms of blocking is he probably needs to do better when he engages on the 2nd level. He lets guys disengage too easily once he moves past the LOS. At the LOS? Freaking dominant...and ND's DL isn't something to sneeze at.

Thanks all I'm saying is where are the coaches bad or good there should be improvement. 1 play 3 gt lineman hits no 1 running into themselves including 71. Even if he did well coach never said 1 good thing about him this year

Why wasn't it 1 or 2 good plays made just for him ? Not asking to b special but every team has a go to play.every team I ever watched if they have a special player they gave a play for them from the biggest guy to the smallest to the fastest to the tallest.where was ours

Interesting. I thought that a kid who went to school with sham went to fsu? & was a center.
Is it even remotely possible sham could move to center? They left him uncovered at guard because he is so strong and because he cant get lb.
No matter what = He has to get in shape - the published weight is off by quite a bit. I think he will fix it! His down blocks look like a bulldozer.
He is to tall for guard wouldn't he be to tall for center?I am still a little confused .what is football shape? He is big use it.i do agree being healthy I priority. His weight was not the main issue or his stamina

If we can rush for 600+ yards per game, I think we'll win at least 80% of the games... throw (pun intended) in 100 yards passing per game and we should be playing for NC regularly. (the above assume the D stays in the Top 75.)

When u zone block or pass block , holding is legal
Well … not really. The problem is that what is called has changed.

When you and I played ball, if your hands came off your jersey you got called for holding. Period. Hence the greater emphasis on cut blocking (yeh!) and spearing (boo!). Now, you have to literally tackle someone to be called for a hold between the tackles. This has the unintentional side-benefit of making leading with your head counterproductive, but it makes a mockery of the holding rule.

Regarding Shamire. Every one here is pulling for him to dominate at this and the next level. As for last year...I think he played fairly well for his first year starting. Could be benefit from losing some weight? Definitely. Will help him in space and blocking at the second level. I doubt the weight loss will hurt him in the trenches.

Was his stamina bad in 15? I honestly don't think so. He seemed able of playing in consecutive drives. That was what I was looking for from him.

Now if he struggles at all next year. For any reason (confusion on assignments, injury, whatever) fans will say it's because he is out of shape. That's just the general consensus and will form most uninformed opinions.

According to CPJ, Shaq was the only OL worthy of high praise in '14. In fact, his comments suggest we won inspite of the OL instead of because of them.

funny that when PJ first came here we thought all he had to do was to get HIS guys in on OL(big AND fast) ,and we can just move the ball like a machine--well that theory went down the crapper,--it looks like EVERY yr will be a crapshoot on the mix and match of players everywhere, what was really scary was that our experienced QB went in the tank, '17 will be eye-opening to say the least

What do you expect, you don't have to train 'em? We don't typically get "oven ready" players out of high school. We get project types and then they have to be trained up on a very complicated offense. Imo, it's gotten more complex throughout CPJ's tenure here in order to stay ahead of DC's who didn't get into college football by being stupid and unable to adapt or form game plans.
