Nah, I got this third hand from Jackets Online. Kelly mentioned it. He did say that Oliver runs downhill faster and does not slow play or string it out as much as JT5 or Marshall tend to do. In other words, Oliver is more about getting to the edge as fast he can and cutting it upfield while Marshall will run the play wider. At least that is my impression.
Nothing against Kelly Q but I wonder if he knew what the play calls even were. When we have a QB follow, TM cuts up field fast because that’s the play call. Almost all of Oliver’s runs were QB keeper calls which you don’t string out wide (unless that’s all here is) The reason he said that is because TM strings out the option likes he’s suppose to, that’s not what Oliver was being asked to do. That’s why CPJ said it’s a little different game to call with Oliver in compared to TM. Kinda hard to compare the two when they were doing two completely different things.

This may all be correct. But I’m teally impressed with Tobias’ quickness. He just seems to go from under center to rocket speed in an instant.

You are correct, of course. I was just relaying what Mr. Bedford had said. They are completely different quarterbacks and he was running the quarterback keeper for the most part. Which makes me wonder why it took USF so long to adjust if they knew he was going to keep it unless the blocking was just so good at the point of attack that they could not stop it anyway? I just hold my breath every time Marshall goes zipping into the land of the giants.

CPJ said they were all speed option

So I went back and watched (first drive) and that’s correct, idk what I was thinking. I guess because he didn’t even take a chance to stretch it out, it looked so different than what I’m use to. He pretty much tucked the ball right away. I like it, but I do hope he will learn to string it out every once in a while. It actually reminds me of TM in the UT game, I feel like he was cutting it upfield quicker. Maybe it’s just a comfort thing to start off if you haven’t played in a game.

I think most of us saw it the way you did. Tuck and run. For all we know that's what a speed option is supposed to look like and why Bedford graded Tobias so highly. Watch the next 2 drives and see what happens when USF adjusts. We got some big plays from Searcy and Mason.

I dont expect national championships but I do expect a calculus student to line up where they are suppose to. If UGA athletes can find the field ours should know that 2 DB's cant cover 3 WR's

What db of ours believes that 2 DBs can cover 3 WRs and what calculus student can’t line up where they are supposed to? I haven’t read to the end of this yet but you seem to consistently set up an over simplified straw man and then attacking it. Many of the things that seem simple to you are much more complex and involve Many more variables that you seem to want to admit. I can do calculus and I played football and I made mistakes during games. I would bet this is true of probably Every “calculus capable” football player who ever played football at a high level. It simply isn’t that darn simple and your argument in my opinion only shows you don’t understand the complexity of the game. If it were that simple coaches would not constantly be training players to reduce mistakes.

Defend defend defend, I’m done with this BS. Say and do whatever you wish, excuse what you like say what you want, The particular play has been posted on this site which shows clearly the pre snap line up. During the live play it was a quick pass to one WR as the other two blocked the 2 DBs who did line up correctly. As what I would call the LBer was in the slot position faking a rush and the safety was 6 yards in the end zone.

I don’t set up straw men and I’m no longer concerned what any of you think. I watched the game and I watched 3 WRs opposite 2 defensive players, the pass went to the uncovered guy and he scored untouched, that’s the fact, straw man or not, go argue with the scoreboard, because they gave USF 6 pts after the play was over. I also said that on the kick off coverage players left their lanes and lost containment , I Bee Ballin, a former player agreed, he then posted an end zone angle and criticized the same actions which I had, guess your former players can critique but the rest of us can’t. That fine though, in your eyes obviously Tech played defense correctly they held them to less than 50 after all so obviously they lined up correctly on each defensive play.

I’m kinda shocked by your post anyway, if they didn’t line up right then what exactly are the coaches you refer trying to fix ? If they did it right there would be no need to fix it ! Which is the point I made — they did it wrong , but hey straw men are all over the place

If you read my post you would see that I NEVER claimed that they set up correctly. By arguing that I did you are not arguing against the position I took and are arguing against a “straw man” that you created, hence yours is a straw man argument. My point was not that they made errors but that you oversimplified the situation in order to criticize. These are bright kids who take on hard academics and major college football and take it very seriously. I think you should cut them some slack and give them support.

If you’re happiness/mood/outlook on life is wrapped up in the outcome of 18-22 year old playing a game, then you need to get some perspective.

I’ve been guilty of it many times, so I’m talking to myself here, too.

Being a GT fan says something about your character. It signifies that you are made of something; that you don’t choose the easy route. That’s what these young men have done. They chose GT. Let’s support them.

Very well said

Bad football teams don’t put out 600 yards of offense. We have some weak areas for sure, but the whole team isn’t bad.

Bad "Os" don't put up 600 yards of O.

Good TEAMS don't kill themselves on S/T, or beat themselves with all to often breakdowns on O, or never develop a halfway consistently competent D over a 10 year period.

Exactly. And I'd much rather have a Taquon Marshall that says "Class trumps practice." I have a great respect for our student athletes as I could never, ever do what they do, and yet they are taking some of the same classes that I took. It makes it seems like we are all more connected, rather than at the football factories where the players take underwater basket weaving and the AA is more like separate business instead of part of a university. It's such a farce.

I believe, by state law, our AA is organized very much the same if not exactly as ugag, gsu or any other state university in Georgia.

The difference is I doubt the other AAs have to fight against jealous HillNerds actively trying to hurt our AA & S/As. The other schools are smart enough to understand how a strong AA is beneficial to the entire school. And chances are some of those fighting us are stealing money from the taxpayers they are looking their noses down to.

And I would be surprised if the other schools are having to overcome their own Alumni Assn. in quibbling over getting help for things easily done.

But you can probably rest very assured that our AA is organized like a "separate business" no different than it is done at ugag.

You guys remember how bad we looked at the start of 2014? Remember losing to an ok Duke team and a below average UNC team that year?
Well...we didn't have our best b back have a season ending injury in 2014 :/

True we had (2) senior B backs step up that finished their careers in amazing fashion. 2014 was a special year that came out of nowhere in many ways....I think too many people have forgotten about the struggles we had at times early in that season.

Hope they figure out a way like they did that year. Ill be watching and supporting our guys because anyone who puts on that GT logo deserves it.
