Thanks Randy!
I am in Fuquay-Varina. I will have to check Players Retreat out.
Oldest continuously operating bar in Raleigh (50+ years). Named for the fact that a local theater group needed a place to go after performances and other venues were closed. So, the "players" would retreat to this hang-out for late night food & beverages.

Today, the walls are covered with sports memorabilia from the past few decades. And don't let the humble digs fool you, the head chef (yes, chef) knows how to cook. You can get anything from a grilled cheese sandwich to a very nice steak on the same menu. Daily food and beverage specials.

This is our go-to date night 2x a month, and we take out of town guests there for a taste of the local scene.

Now, back to our regularly scheduled programming: :gt:🏈

Just joined GT Swarm. BME Co-op ‘94. I am the former Sports Editor and Editor of The Technique in the late 80s/early 90s. I’m from Memphis but have lived in CT for the last 17 years. I am currently the leader of the GT Network for Central CT. I also have worked in the medical device industry for almost 30 years.

I’ll be heading to the Syracuse game next weekend for what looks like a challenging game. I’m really enjoying the improvements we’ve seen with the program the last two years.

I`d like to introduce myself...My name Barry, I`m a avid GT Fan... I live in Aiken, South Carolina ... my first GT game was in 1972, GT- 34 and South Carolina-6... My favorite game I've seen in person was GT-34 @Ugag-14 in 1974, in the mud bowl...it was very cold and rainy all day and i remember Adrian Rucker broke loose for a 30 plus yard TD run and the AJC said he broke at least 11 tackles... I`m a tradition type guy....i love the old gold and white, I've never attacked a player....i have got on 2 coaches...one was from Ugag via way of East Carolina and the other was Mr. Waffle House....I`m not just a football fan, i love GT Baseball and Softball...and now I'm a fanatic about GT volleyball. the best thing i love about GT....They care about the athletes and most importantly the Academics. I joined this board because i watched it the last year or so and I seen a lot of like minded people on here.. people like me who care and who do not accept moral victories. Go Jackets, THWG!!!

Welcome aboard. As you have "lurked" around, I think you have seen "we" are mostly level headed AND also likely to have "thread drift" ;)
"you reference two coaches that are basically nameless now and are referenced in various terms. Well done on your staying true to that method.
You have also likely noticed there are a few die hard Baseball posters. Love to see the Lady V-ball Jackets getting the love too.

Hello all! Happy to be here.

Life long fan of GT. Turned down GT for Mercer in 1995 then ended up with a career as an IE anyway with an entire staff of GT IEs. Life is funny that way. Since Mercer didn’t have a football team at the time (undefeated for 72 straight years, baby!!) I stayed loyal to GT football. Father was a GT aerospace engineer way before everyone realized it was cool and retired from the Air Force as an SES Chief Engineer. I grew up on Robins AFB just a few hours south of Atlanta.

Favorite game is actually the last one I went to: the FSU game in Ireland. It turns out that win wasn’t as big as we thought it was, but at the time it was huge and very exciting!

I’m definitely not a Debbie downer on GT football, but I am a realist about what to expect. Modern football requires heavy investment and commitment to sports excellence over academic excellence. I’m not too sure we’ll ever get back to glory, but I’ll be cheering it on regardless.
