I was impressed by how JT turned it around - he had like 4 bad passes in a row and was then lights out again. Those bad passes were on him too; we had good pass blocking today. It may have been that W was respecting the run and not pass rushing as hard as some teams will. But then we'll gash them on the run.

We took what they gave us. Scored a TD every real possession of the second half. No TOs. The O was fine.

I wish Byerly got some real experience today. We are going to need him to be ready for ACC games. I said at half that we'd be fine because we were wearing down. Byerly could have done really well too. We won't know unless we try and I hate putting all our eggs in one basket.

Clemson intentionally played two QBs in the first half against UGAg. At half it was 21-21. Rotating QBs is not that radical of an idea when the back up is about the same.

No, he who shall not be named did not lose to Furman. Curry also had losing streaks to Navy, Duke, and Tulane, and had a 1-9-1 season, a 1-10 season, and a 3-8 season. Even Ross had a 2-9 season and a 3-8 season. And yet somehow Tech is in the worst shape now under Johnson it has ever been. GIVE ME A BREAK !!!
Correct super my bad.

On D, we were a busted play away from only giving up 3 points in the first half. Some have forgotten what we have learned about the TO. If you have a qb that can make the reads, you can neutralize a bigger, faster team by grinding out 3 or 4 yds per play. You keep the chains moving and the opposing D on the field. They didn't put the ball on the ground, and they know how to execute. Ask Bama why they would only schedule GSU once. I will say that IMO, our linebackers had a poor game. Thought the DE's had a decent game. It seems that the biggest problem we have on D is tackling. Tighten that up, and things will look much better.

On O, my only complaint is we didn't get as much push up the middle as I would like. That always seems to be a problem early in the year. New center may have a lot to do with that. No turnovers, no motion penalties, no substitution penalties, no chop blocks, no confusion lining up, no plays where the backs went one way and the qb the other way. The O coming down the field at the end of the first half after their long run and getting some momentum back showed some maturity. I thought the passing was the best we have seen since maybe Godsey. Thought Thomas was composed and managed the O well. As soon as the first game jitters were worked out, the O was pretty smooth.

All good points. And did you notice that Georgia got called for a chop block tonight. Aren't they the ones always accusing us of chop blocking? I think they had more chop blocks called on them all last year than we did.

Wasn't Byerly dinged? What I saw was CPJ playing JT til the end to get him the experience of finishing off his own win, keep Byerly healthy, not burn MJ or Mart's redshirt, and maybe even for conditioning for a lot of starters considering it was pretty hot out there. They should have put the game away sooner, so you know, stay out there and sweat. Not that I think the offense wasn't adequate today (I thought it was fine). Was disappointed in the D.

1. Take your own advice.

2. Part of passing IS the option offense, if someone is stacking 9 in the box then you pass...once again, this is part of the option offense...why do you think Wofford put a diffrent QB late in the game?

3. Still havent answered how they ran the option offense better than us?

Please. The question about who ran the option better is not even arguable. Wofford had better yards per carry (5.8 vs 5.3) and more yardage rushing (271 vs 226) than we did. We obviously won by dominating the passing game. But with our superior talent and speed, and with a coach who is supposed to be a master at the option game, there is no excuse for our inability to win the option game. My point was not to argue whether or not Wofford ran the option better than we did. That argument is settled. Period. End of discussion. My point was to raise for discussion the reasons WHY Wofford ran the option better than we did. I think the reason is that there is a deeper, more fundamental issue within the team, possibly related to attitude, motivation, or mindset. (i.e. does this team really care? do they see Johnson already as a lame duck? something else?)

Been doing it for years. Except when it was JN. He was head and shoulders above the competition.

I should have bought up going for 2 rather than the extra point ....... we averaged 5.2 a carry ......

I think CPJ was great on the 4th down calls - we were 2 for 2. That conversion pass to Xenon was one of the best plays of the game. Both times we punted, we were on the wrong side of the field.

The only thing I was pleased with today was the passing game. Jt has got a cannon on him and as we all know smelter was/is a beast.

OL/DL was controlled by wofford for most of the game, which was the most disappointing. Running up the middle was horrid, laskey had 1 run of 10 yards for the TD, everything else was under 5. He was getting racked for 2 yard gains all game with no room to run. Offense was painful to watch at times.

Defense could not get off the field on 3rd down or get any pressure on the QB. Outside of rook - chungong, defense looked uninterested for a lot of the game. Nealy missed a ton of tackles.

Golden had the 1 good return, but he looked kinda shaky today on special teams.

I'm glad to get the W and move on but man was that not pretty.

UGA makes me a little sick with the backs they keep pulling in. Chubbs is the real deal too.. Welcome to third string Mr. Marshall.
Clemson has a very stout D IMO. They got gassed in Q4 I think. Clemson's O looks awful right now. NO deep threat passing at all and very pedestrian rushing. Their offensive play calling was incredibly conservative and their hurry up looked bad and helped gas their D. Their "genius" OC looked incompetent. Amazing how the caliber of players one has tends to reflect on a coach's performance. Clemson is sorely missing last years WRs and RB. I think the frosh QB will win starting job before long.

I agree. Young D thought we would give up a few points. Offense is a headache. Impressed by rook chungong . Freeman pass rush specialist and him on run is a good combo. Gamble name was called fee times.
