It reinforces what I was told years ago by a friend of mine when I asked him why he no longer called ACC games.Super fascinating. Made me think of Hewitt in a new light, although I'll never forgive him for never figuring out how to inbound the damn ball.
Interesting to hear what that ACC official said to him in his first year. Basically telling him that "it's good to have two teams carry the flag for the conference and the rest fall in line behind" or words to that effect.
Great listen, thanks for sharing.
That's only what he was willing to share on record. The other guy absent from the return press conference (only mentioned by name once in the 45 minutes) was holding the purse strings and was the one who ultimately had to convince Paul to come back. Same guy who made the decision to fire Paul a year later and saddle the GTAA with the buyout.Great listen. Didn’t realize GT was his dream job. Also made me second guess my opinion of Dave Braine. Finally, the part about Hogan convincing him to come back to GT is crazy. Wow.

Observation: The ratio of @dtm1997 posts on this subject relative to the damages incurred by GT basketball and the fans over the past decade is miniscule.I admire DTM's commitment to bashing DRad at every mention. This level of pettiness and bitterness is awesome.
He was the #2 guy in the GTAA then.... the guy who did the heavy lifting for "The Face". All ADs have one - Dodd's was John McKenna.Forgive my ignorance on this but who exactly is Wayne Hogan?
so what is the back story on this, if you can share. That's only what he was willing to share on record. You can always ignore it. He was the best coach we had in the past 15 years. What is this obsession with Paul Hewitt's podcast. I would just as soon forget the guy. Yet every time I open this forum his name pops up.
Correct me if I am wrong; even if I ignore it; his name would still show up on the list of topics. He may have been the best coach; I have not thought about it that much. If he was; it most
certainly was because his contract skewed our hiring after him. THAT is why I don't like even seeing his name.
