Super fascinating. Made me think of Hewitt in a new light, although I'll never forgive him for never figuring out how to inbound the damn ball.
Interesting to hear what that ACC official said to him in his first year. Basically telling him that "it's good to have two teams carry the flag for the conference and the rest fall in line behind" or words to that effect.

That's only what he was willing to share on record. The other guy absent from the return press conference (only mentioned by name once in the 45 minutes) was holding the purse strings and was the one who ultimately had to convince Paul to come back. Same guy who made the decision to fire Paul a year later and saddle the GTAA with the buyout.

Observation: The ratio of @dtm1997 posts on this subject relative to the damages incurred by GT basketball and the fans over the past decade is miniscule.
Conclusion: Appropriately bitter. Not petty enough.

Pretty impressive interview. Very candid and open about himself and the GT job. The 2010 comments about wanting to leave and the way it went down was surprising! I had no idea.
I’ll admit, he rubbed me the wrong way pre game at an alumni event in Chicago before the UIC game. I’m not an alum so I didn’t get inside but as he was walking down the hallway I saw him, extended my hand and congratulated him on the F4 run. I asked for a pic and he said “I really don’t have time for anything like that”. His tone and the half *** handshake really caught me off guard. The lady escorting him to the room even looked like Wtf was that?!? But, it sounds like he’s learned a lot and a lot about himself in the last 10 years.

He was the #2 guy in the GTAA then.... the guy who did the heavy lifting for "The Face". All ADs have one - Dodd's was John McKenna.

Sounds like you got your own issues to deal with if simply seeing his name bothers you so much.
And if his contract is what bothers you so much then it's not him who you should be bothered with. It's the AD that went for that contract because we wanted to go cheap to begin with.
