Covid thread #5. Won’t last a week.
How many Covid threads do we have going in basketball? I count I think 3.
Would be easier if they just let us keep 1 in the lounge.

ask and ye shall receive my friend. This one stays until someone brings politics into it but I bet it won't make it 24 hours. Some of our frequent contributors cannot restrain themselves from it. I would love to be proven wrong.

Someone needs to change their definition of what is political. If you asked the board, I think you’d get unanimity that these threads are valid and have not been political. We’ve had no fights or disrespectful arguments on here either. Discussing Dr Faucis recommendations (for example) is no more political than discussing uniform colors or comparing head coaches against each other. Someone obviously THINKS it’s political. I’d submit that’s their problem and not ours.

Except that very little in our country isn’t political anymore. I would assert that most attempts to damage character, impugn names or blame place are now part of a larger agenda, consciously or not. The old rule of “the amount of passion is in direct disproportion to the amount of knowledge” seems to apply more than ever now. People are ready to fight over low flow toilets for carp’s sake or incandescent light bulbs. Everything is part of a larger narrative about “those idiots” who want to ruin our lives. We are tribal to the extreme and look for any clue about what color war paint you are wearing.
Sports are mostly an exception. We can impugn uga all day long and we just know it is the right thing to do. And God will bless you for it.

I just looked through the basketball thread and I can 100% see why it was moved. Same folks saying the same stuff and then whining that they can't understand why it was moved. The patterns are easily to discern, it's amazing y'all keep doing it.
For the record, it wasn't me since I don't even like basketball and didn't even know that thread existed - but I do see some pretty familiar usernames in there...

In NY State & NYC, official guidance is that if all parties in a group have been vaccinated, have at it. I think NYC might be back to 50% capacity today, compared to back to shut down in December/January.
I'm still keeping my *** home because I'm not vaccinated, but my dad has been fully vaccinated and in the past week has been able to resume some normal routines (in-person lunches with friends, glass blowing hobby), so that's a great step in the right direction.
People should still be wearing masks & washing hands though, as well as social distancing when the full group isn't vaccinated. Ironically, my dad now becomes a potential risk to me, but we'll manage thru that.

I’m referring to the people chirping that everything involving the word Covid needs to go to a Covid thread. My post that is now in this thread was posted in the funny thread because it’s absolutely hilarious. But people are chirping and reporting, it’s just absurd.
It’s the same as someone posting a Jose Canseco blooper reel in the funny section and people start chirping about it so it gets moved to MLB thread. It’s just people constantly crying and over modding at this point.

Despite your personal view that the Funny Stuff thread being derailed by such a post would be a ridiculous occurrence, doesn't change the fact it could be. I chose to mitigate the possibility.
