The front 6/7 for VT are very good, and that showed today.

We were able to get short yardage early, but nothing explosive. That was the problem today… Before Philo came in, I think we had 0 explosive plays. If we are leading and running at will that’s ok, but we were down all game. We needed to try to push the ball.

It has been talked about here before but the inability to get receivers open vertically down the field is glaring with this team. Their DB's, like most teams before, are in step with our WRE's at all times. 0 separation. Given the speed, esp. with Singleton and Rutherford, this is very puzzling.

We would’ve made a couple first downs where ZP got tackled short.

Even with Pyron in, we had numerous drives that died when it shouldn't have. Hawes (I think?) falling over, Malik with a drop... It was just all around and absolutely pitiful game from every single player that suited up on offense for us (except Philo and maybe Canion). Beyond pitiful.

Everything we could've done to lose this game we did. One of the most frustrating type of games, where you just walk out there and beat yourself.

The future is bright people, bowl or not. Keep Philo and our current commits, and 2 good DT/DE. Philo throws the ball better than King. That's why you don't see King throwing that much. Buster has a different play set for King and Philo. The interception bounced out of our reicever's hands. I really like this kid. Sorry for Pyron, but he had his chance.

This won’t be a groundbreaking revelation, but I was very disappointed by Pyron. I don’t know what happened to him but he had no confidence today. I thought WRs and the OL did OK, but Pyron constantly double clutched and looked woefully inaccurate when he did let it go. It just sucks because a fully healthy team wins this game with ease. VT did not look good.

When I saw Pryon on the sideline before the game, he did not look confident, and his play mirrored his look. He may/likely have lost his #2 spot to Philo. Unless Key decides to hold off playing Philo to ensure his eligibility.

I do wonder if Phillo like Pyron a few weeks ago only practiced a handful of packages this week.

I'm not sure what to make of Pyron, has he regressed or is the on-line around him regressing.

I have heard that Pyron was hurt before last week's game, and the injury hurts his movement and explosiveness. Then he got his left shoulder injured in the game last week. He's pretty banged up, too.

Our O has talent but it very thin. Too many key injuries to mount a serious threat. IIWII. Just one of those years, it seems.

More I think of it. Straight up Chan Gailey offensive performance. No confidence ina my one to execute anything. Just a consistent play for a chance to win late on one drive. Weak strategy, weak execution.

If we don’t show some promise soon on O I’m worried we are years away from being an 8-9 win team.

That’s my read, the second coming of Chan is upon us. Chan 1.0 had to follow O’Leary. Given 2.0 is following the worst coach in GT history, it’ll remain a very divided fanbase.

So our commitment to RUN THE BAWL meant both our top two QBs have been playing hurt? Yeesh.

D played generally played well.. VT was able to hit a few explosives and had success at key times with plays designed to punish over-pursuit.

Field position was a big problem all game. Shanahan didn't have his best game. Hopefully Birr is getting right.

Offensively a very frustrating game. Drops and procedure penalties killed us in conjunction with field position.

Was hoping to see something different than a run up the middle on that key fourth and short. I get that we feel we should be able to get a yard,. And it seems like we make it too easy for teams just to sit on that play. Sure it's high % but I think we need to give teams a little more to have to defend in those situations. Maybe it's misperception on my part.

Philo has potential. Made mistakes and such but overall played well in a difficult environment.

This is what stands out to me. We knew with their rush that we didn't have time to throw much deep, yet our WR's just couldn't get separation. In the past we've remedied that via the run King plus Haynes/Alexander. All are now hurt. Pyron is not 100%. OL is not playing really well as a whole.

Hopefully King returns and all is well. But if not, redshirting is likely a thing of the past. Everyone is a free agent - no sense playing the long game.

I know so much begins and ends with the OL on offense. It felt like there were a lot of busted plays and QB hurries.

I have to imagine that Buster gets at least a sternly worded message from CBK after this.

I don’t think it’s fair to blame the OL. They played Ok. QB (and honestly WR) play was bad today.

We need WR's and we need someone to kick the OL back into gear. Neither had a good game today. Too many skill position injuries now. Been that way since early on. Need a week off. Miami may be ripe for an upset.

ETA: King masks our offensive weaknesses.

Regarding WRs, dropped balls are obviously bad, but the narrative about them not getting separation doesn’t seem to me to be true. Philo was willing to cut it loose a lot more than king or pyron, and sure enough, there were guys open all over the field.
