Jan 12, 2014 11:01 AM - Eric: Hello all, is the chat working?
Jan 12, 2014 11:01 AM - johncu: Working for me
Jan 12, 2014 11:02 AM - twin: Is Francis Kallon ever going to reach his hyped potential
Jan 12, 2014 11:04 AM - Eric: I think so, I have always said it would be at least his third year before he got real PT...nothing wrong with that he was just really raw. I dont know if he will live up to the hype we have gave him but I think he will be a good player. I think he will start to earn time this season and be a starter in 2015. That is what I expect.
Jan 12, 2014 11:05 AM - johncu: Of all the guys we are trying to flip, which ones do you think we have a legitimate chance of getting?
Jan 12, 2014 11:06 AM - Eric: Good question...Of the names that are known I would say Rashawn Shaw.
Jan 12, 2014 11:06 AM - Eric: we have a lot better shot at Sawyers than I thought though.
Jan 12, 2014 11:07 AM - OldJacketFan: good morning all, Eric nice to hear about Sawyers, have tyou reached out to him?
Jan 12, 2014 11:07 AM - twin: Do you think that there is much divisiveness among the players and has it affected play on the field.
Jan 12, 2014 11:07 AM - Eric: I have not. I am sure he is hearing enough from everyone else so I will leave him alone.
Jan 12, 2014 11:08 AM - BUZZ NATION: Who do you think will lead the team in sacks this year?
Jan 12, 2014 11:08 AM - Eric: No, the locker room is not as bad as people make it out to be. I dont think if changed anything on the field this season, the players could have quit if they wanted.
Jan 12, 2014 11:08 AM - OldJacketFan: I'm sure his phone is blowing up! Any new info on Rodgers?
Jan 12, 2014 11:09 AM - Eric: Wow thats a tough one...Hopefully someone breaks out. I will guess Gotsis
Jan 12, 2014 11:10 AM - OldJacketFan: I 2nd that about the team, one thing I've been impressed with the staff about is despite all the "turmoil" the last couple of year I've not seen any signs of the team laying down
Jan 12, 2014 11:10 AM - Eric: Nothing on Rogers..Still needs a good test score and im sure he will be taking it soon. I feel pretty confident that he will stick with UCF though.
Jan 12, 2014 11:11 AM - Eric: Rogers UCF OV is the 17th.
Jan 12, 2014 11:11 AM - Brian Johnson: Who do you think we end up with on NSD? Like from the remaining targets
Jan 12, 2014 11:11 AM - twin: What uncommitted players are we still actively pursuing
Jan 12, 2014 11:12 AM - Eric: Hard to predict that...But I will say a flip, Autry and Simmons. My confidence on Autry and Simmons arent high though.
Jan 12, 2014 11:12 AM - OldJacketFan: For the '15 class it looks like Jasson Lewis has a stroing interst in Tech, who would you say his top 3-5 are? Also, who are Tech top line prospect for '15?
Jan 12, 2014 11:12 AM - kg01: can you run down the wr recruiting situation so folks can stop whining about the Pope H S kid?
Jan 12, 2014 11:13 AM - BUZZ NATION: If a coach is leaving after NSD do the players already have an idea who it is ?
Jan 12, 2014 11:13 AM - Eric: Simmons, Autry, Bowen are the main three uncommitted off the top of my head
Jan 12, 2014 11:14 AM - Eric: Jason has a top three of Vols, UCLA and GT in that order...I am not sure. I have not dived into the 2015 class yet.
Jan 12, 2014 11:15 AM - Brian Johnson: Do you think we get any vandy decommits
Jan 12, 2014 11:15 AM - OldJacketFan: Like Cole Hardion perhaps?
Jan 12, 2014 11:15 AM - johncu: Who all is scheduled to visit on the 17th?
Jan 12, 2014 11:15 AM - Eric: We are full at WR and are not taking anymore...We have a lot of guys at WR and there isnt a need to take anymore. From what I was told we reached out to the kid a long time ago and he turned us down quick..how true that is im not sure. He is someone the staff should have looked at and im sure they did because he is a good player.
Jan 12, 2014 11:16 AM - Eric: No the players do not have a idea.
Jan 12, 2014 11:17 AM - Eric: We could...have to get them on campus first. Our best chance is at Sawyers right now. I dont we go after Hardin because we are tight on space but we would have a good shot if we got him on a OV...Grant Haley is another we have been in touch with.
Jan 12, 2014 11:18 AM - Eric: Visitors on the 17th are Searcey, Austin twins, Miles Taylor, Trey Klock, jalen Johnson, Antonio Simmons, Michael Preddy, Terrell Lewis, Rashawn Shaw and Michael Sawyers.
Jan 12, 2014 11:18 AM - OldJacketFan: Would love to see Sawyers and Hardin, as you know I feel you can never have enough good linemen
Jan 12, 2014 11:19 AM - Eric: I would love to take another OL but I dont think we have room right now...Staff wants another RB, DL and CB.
Jan 12, 2014 11:19 AM - DaddyBill: Eric...what have you heard about the four EEs' first week?
Jan 12, 2014 11:20 AM - BUZZ NATION: Any possible transfers coming to tech?
Jan 12, 2014 11:20 AM - Eric: We have a ton of options on the board...Simmons, Vincent Jr, Grant Haley, Sawyers, Hardin, Shaw, Autry, Rogers, Bowen, etc.
Jan 12, 2014 11:21 AM - mac_n_chz24: With the staff want 1 more CB, is it safe to think that maybe the plan is to move one of the Twins to offense?
Jan 12, 2014 11:21 AM - Eric: I talked to one of them this week and he said they were having a good time...I know they are trying to adjust to how busy school is and the college life. They seem to be bonding well.
Jan 12, 2014 11:21 AM - Eric: No we will not take any transfers...we already turned down 1.
Jan 12, 2014 11:22 AM - OldJacketFan: I may have missed it but I assume Step is on campus?
Jan 12, 2014 11:22 AM - Eric: Not yet, the plan is for them both to start out at CB right now. But if we take another CB and dont land a RB I would not be surprised to see one of them at A back.
Jan 12, 2014 11:23 AM - Eric: Yeah, Step reported the 7th and he is wearing #29 this year
Jan 12, 2014 11:24 AM - OldJacketFan: Eric, do you recall Tech ever being in as good a shape with a signing class as it appears they are with class and the remaining possibilities?
Jan 12, 2014 11:24 AM - BUZZ NATION: Any possible major change in positions on the team ?
Jan 12, 2014 11:24 AM - twin: Who is good enough of our recruits to play this year other then on special teams
Jan 12, 2014 11:26 AM - Eric: Tech always seems to be in the game late with some good players but never closes well...I am hoping this year proves different. However it does seem that we are in one more good targets than we usually are at the end.
Jan 12, 2014 11:26 AM - Eric: Travin Henry has switched from WR to DE/OLB. That appears to be the only change as of now.
Jan 12, 2014 11:27 AM - BUZZ NATION: If we have a coaching change this year does CPJ already have somebody in mind ?
Jan 12, 2014 11:27 AM - OldJacketFan: Speaking of closing that brings to mind a question I've wanted to posed for a while. What makes a good "closer" and why does Tech have such an issue with closing top recruits?
Jan 12, 2014 11:28 AM - Eric: I think we will need a OL to play this year for depth...Maybe Stickler or Brown. We are looking for a rush DE so all the DE recruits will get a strong look..Freeman has the advatage as he is here early. Durham will very likely play this year.
Jan 12, 2014 11:28 AM - Eric: I have no idea about if he has someone in mind already or not.
Jan 12, 2014 11:30 AM - BUZZ NATION: Do you think our DL will have better depth this year ?
Jan 12, 2014 11:30 AM - Eric: A good closer is simply somebody who lands the top targets at the end...No idea why we have had a issue with this. In some cases it has to do with kids just wanting to play at factory schools...the coaches have been staying all over guys this year so hopefully we get our share.
Jan 12, 2014 11:30 AM - Eric: Better depth at DT, yes. We may have more depth at DE this year but the talent level is taking a drop with Attaochu leaving.
Jan 12, 2014 11:31 AM - twin: How do you think our strength and connditioning staff, methods and player participation compares to other schools
Jan 12, 2014 11:31 AM - OldJacketFan: So you're saying it's more of a, for lack of a better phrase, hand holding exercise than personality or technique kind of thing?
Jan 12, 2014 11:32 AM - Eric: I tihnk our S&C program is on the rise...I was not a big fan of Ciano and company. I have been happy with Sisk.
Jan 12, 2014 11:32 AM - OldJacketFan: I have very impressed with Sisk and his work
Jan 12, 2014 11:33 AM - BUZZ NATION: Do you think the attempt to recruit from northern schools has been successful or is it still to early to tell ?
Jan 12, 2014 11:33 AM - Eric: Depends on the person really...to be a good closer you have to know how to cater to that recruit...some want to hear certain things about football while others would like to talk about school. You just have to know the recruit and get a bond built with them.
Jan 12, 2014 11:34 AM - DaddyBill: I liked the way Sisk detailed hte S&C program and that they would take a kid back to Zero then build him up the GT way. Also interesting they have one S&C coach who works specifically with freshmen.
Jan 12, 2014 11:34 AM - Eric: I think we have done decent overall in the north...Cook has been building some strong ties there for the 2015 class so I anxious to see how that works out.
    Jan 12, 2014 11:34 AM - kg01: any new rumblings on miles.
Jan 12, 2014 11:35 AM - Eric: Yeah I like Sisk and the way he runs things.
Jan 12, 2014 11:35 AM - OldJacketFan: At DE I am intrigued with Preddy ................ as the closer aspect thanks for the insight. I do know with my son he enjoyed the interactio but he was one that didn't want constant contact but did want to have his questions or inquiries answered timely
Jan 12, 2014 11:36 AM - BUZZ NATION: How did Cook do his first year ?
Jan 12, 2014 11:36 AM - Eric: I do not feel good on Miles...I am hoping we get him in here next weekend. As of now I expect a flip from him. He is torn on what to do...very important for us to get him in here next weekend.
Jan 12, 2014 11:36 AM - Eric: I expect Preddy to come in at OL still.
Jan 12, 2014 11:37 AM - Eric: In recruiting he has done well...Coaching is still a wait and see. I wasnt impressed with what I seen on the field.

Jan 12, 2014 at 11:37 AM - OldJacketFan: Wiht Miles is PSU the main competition? I know Iowa has been all over him but they don't seem to have swayed him
Jan 12, 2014 at 11:38 AM - CuseJacket: When did Miles start having second thoughts? What are his reasons for wanting to look elsewhere?
Jan 12, 2014 at 11:38 AM - Eric: If PSU offers then it is over for us...Iowa is the main competiton as of now and they almost have him convinced to visit.
Jan 12, 2014 at 11:38 AM - Eric: Miles has been having second thoughts for a month or two now...as to why I am not sure. Many guys get cold feet this time of the year. I know the CPJ rumors worried him a bit.
Jan 12, 2014 at 11:40 AM - BUZZ NATION: What player in the locker room works out the most ?
Jan 12, 2014 at 11:41 AM - twin: I know that Antonio Simmons dominated against lesser competition, but is there any reason to think he wouldnt excel against really good players
Jan 12, 2014 at 11:44 AM - OldJacketFan: Let's see Iowa City Iowa vs Atlanta Ga :p Should be a no brainer!
    Jan 12, 2014 at 11:46 AM - BUZZ NATION: I agree OldJacketFan.
Jan 12, 2014 at 11:46 AM - Eric: It would have been Jemea...but now I would say Hunt-Days. I expect Custis and Tre Jackson to fight for that one as well.
Jan 12, 2014 at 11:47 AM - Eric: If Simmons doesnt put on weight or doesnt learn technique then that will hold him back..besides that hes got the physical ability.
Jan 12, 2014 at 11:48 AM - OldJacketFan: Speaking of Sisk it's interesting look at how a S&C coach deals with the difference players issues like gettign Devine down in weight while maintaining his natural quickness and strength then with Griffin getting his weight up to match his frame will maintaining his natural agility!
Jan 12, 2014 at 11:48 AM - Eric: I got a few more minutes before I head out guys.
Jan 12, 2014 at 11:49 AM - OldJacketFan: Eric as always thanks for the insights!
Jan 12, 2014 at 11:50 AM - CuseJacket: Which targets could pick up the phone today and commit? i.e., who is a 100% take?
Jan 12, 2014 at 11:51 AM - Eric: I would say Rogers, Sawyers, Grant Haley and Troy Vincent...maybe Rashawn Shaw.
Jan 12, 2014 at 11:52 AM - BUZZ NATION: What do think our record will be this year and thanks for the information.
Jan 12, 2014 at 11:52 AM - johncu: Not Autry?
Jan 12, 2014 at 11:52 AM - Eric: Anytime, I am sure the next one I do will be jam packeed with info and questions haha.
Jan 12, 2014 at 11:53 AM - Eric: No not Autry...it depends how the schedule breaks down. I would go 8-4 as of now.
Jan 12, 2014 at 11:56 AM - Eric: Thanks for all the questions guys...see you all next time. #GoJackets
