Georgia is a far more talented team. That is very easy to see. If you don’t believe that then you are in denial.

King pas likely around 75% capable on throwing the ball. He didn’t have any zip on passes but made great decisions and throws all night.

We simply don’t have the studs on the DL that can generate pass pressure. Georgia did a good job with their blitz pickup.

Our coaches developed excellent game plans and the players executed then very well.

Georgia is one of the best teams in College football again this year.
All of this.

I would further assert that whether King was 70% or 80% healthy for this game there is no one I’d rather have at QB when he is completely healthy. He is just an incredible threat with his poise, quickness and decision making. Hope he is 100% next year and can put us far enough ahead in games to let Philo play the second half of most games. We have a great QB room.

I havent read everything so this may have been mentioned, but we had three of the best college football games of the year against top 10 teams where the TV focus was almost solely on us (no other games on TV). I know the loss sucks, but in terms of the rebuild of the program we have made a lot of new fans and put the world on notice with our toughness and the entertaining games we have been in. Ive gotten tons of messages from folks commenting on our games this year after crickets for a long time. Doesnt erase the hurt, but this program is going places and people are taking notice.

I will get blasted for saying this, but right now, UGA is arguably the top football program in the country. We went to their place last night before 80K fans and beat them in every way except the final score. UGA won, but it took a lot of luck and a lot of help from the refs to do it. We are not on their level and may never be, but we are much closer and definitely moving into a top 25 program, IMO. I’m looking forward to the future with Key at the helm.

So proud of the kids, especially HK. He’s a warrior.

Refs were horrible with repeated missed calls, but at the end of the day, we had plenty of chances to win it ourselves in spite of them.

Key is building something special, a win last night would have validated it. We will have to wait for next year.

Let’s hope they use that feeling we all have to right now as motivation for the next 364 days and we become a better football program for it.

As optimistic about the the football program as I’ve been in years. Let’s hope we can keep the AD, coaching staff, and roster/recruits together as much as possible this off-season.

Hopefully all of the people who have been complaining that MBS will be 90 percent red for that game next year will now get season tickets and buy extra tickets to that game before the and-licker fans are able to get tickets. Let's fill MBS up with gold fans. (or at least gold-white-navy fans and keep the red to a minimum)

Just came by to say that Georgia Tech played an amazing game. They outcoached, outschemed, and mostly outplayed the Bulldogs all night long. I was embarrassed for my fellow fans last night for being so unprepared and uninspired as a program for three quarters. UGA made stupid decisions like not taking the easy 3 points and going for 2 in regulation, while Buster seemed to have the UGA defense on skates all night long. Haynes King almost won the whole thing by himself. It's really good to see Georgia Tech back to being a very dangerous and capable football program again.

The 4th and 1 on goal line PASS INTERFERENCE CALL BY THE SIDELINE OFFICAL WAS OBVIOUSLY BETTING RELATED. Stole the fame
Caveat: I'm a retired investigator and would be reluctant to agree without solid proof, but I spoke to my sons after that play about the influence exerted on people in those situations. It's a real thing, very difficult to validate, but nonetheless real.

No moral victories. I get it. And maybe this is too soon.

But let's take clear-eyed stock of the situation:

1. We're three years into a massive re-build, and we just pushed the two-time national champions to eight overtimes in their crib on national television.
2. Back in August, we were staring at the very real possibility of five-win season and hoping to get to a bowl. If someone had offered you 7-5, would you have taken it?
3. Last night, we were 18-point dogs, yet we beat Georgia in every aspect of the game (except the scoreboard and that only after 8 OT's).
4. In the past eight days, we have flipped:
  • Tae Harris (S) from Clemson
  • Jordan Allen (WR) from Louisville
  • Elgin Sessions (CB) from West Virginia
Here's my question:

Which team will benefit more from the outcome of last night's game?

UGA gains NOTHING from talking about it with high school seniors nor will the transfer portal suddenly favor them as a result of it.

In contrast, Tech continues to show which program is on the rise in the state of Georgia. Next year, 9-3 or even 10-2 look like a very real possibilities.

I feel better about our situation and outlook today than I have in years.
I completely agree, Randy. This will add fuel to our fire, both recruiting and otherwise. I went to bed last night thinking UGA won’t beat us again for another 10 years. Probably not true, but we have every reason to be optimistic.

I have been an avid Tech fan for 45 years and this may be the toughest loss I have ever had to stomach. But if it is this bad for me, I cannot even imagine how bad the players coaches must feel. CBK’s press conference tells it all. I hurt for him as I know how bad he wanted it.

But let’s remember that we got beaten consecutively 52-7 and 45-0 just a few years ago by these guys. What this team has done in just two years is phenomenal even though the record does not necessarily show it. Haynes King will go down as one of the best players and leaders Tech has ever had. I hope he comes back next year and we have a season to remember.
Good post. Dissapointed? Sure. But so encouraged to see the progress made this year. I slept like a baby, not like the losses to Syr,Lou, and VT. Frankly I am more nervous when we are favored. LOL

Regarding your first point, I thought the talent was equal last night between the two teams. Seriously.

From the AJC interview with Kirby
"
“I’ll just keep it between he and I. We’re both competitors. We have respect for each other. We played here in the same area, we played against each other, we recruited against each other. We don’t get to share thoughts and ideas and have break bread and have tea very often. So when we get a chance to talk and show respect to each other, I think being competitors — it’s a hard game, and nobody knows what it’s like to sit on that sideline and go through that pain and the highs, the lows, we’re going to win, we’re going to lose, we’re going to win, we’re going to lose. I mean, he was emotionally spent, and so was I.

And we probably know what each other goes through for our fan bases better than anybody. Nobody else has been in those shoes and had to deal with that and do that. He’s done a tremendous job turning that program around.”

Absolutely heartbroken. I still feel sick. I don’t think I’ll ever get over this one, and those god damn mutt fans are going to laugh and giggle for another year. It’s unbearable.
Yeah it sucks, but was more insufferable was their "fans" booing our guys when they were going off the field for injuries. I lost even more respect for them
