I addressed this earlier. Different Circumstances. They play in an NFL stadium with huge capacity and limited ticket commitment. They can give up 70% or more of tickets and revenue to attract those teams. Thats how they do it. We cant. Our stadium sits roughly 45k and is sold out to season ticket holders for the last few years. Thats the issue.
Then a neutral site game starts to make sense but when the starting point is 2 away games and a neutral site where you get the smaller allotment it no longer makes sense. From a financial standpoint we would be better with you, loserville, or a boise state at home sell out crowd.

I still can't get over the irony here of people bashing UCF for not playing big time programs when they are playing us this weekend. We small time I guess.
No my point is that Playoff caliber programs, typically have at least one other playoff caliber person in there schedule

Yes you do have better teams on your schedule NOW, but I think we can both agree that in 2017 and 18 you played a very soft regular season schedule
Here is the issue. We had you/maryland on the schedule 2017 and UNC/PITT on the schedule in 2018. stanford/Texas was supposed to be 2019. When we scheduled those games in 2010ish you, pitt, maryland were all way better teams. Its blind luck who will be good 10 years later. Texas straight up just paid us to go away because they could.

Right but you had an opportunity to play a game against a top program, let’s be honest UCF financially is doing very well, one bad financial deal to establish your program as legit wouldn’t ruin you

Uhh not really man. We charge students "athletic fees" and when you have 60k+ students thats serious money in order to try and compensate but its rough. 2019 ACC had a $153m tv rights deal, AAC had $20m....

This thread is meant to discuss the betting spread for this week's game. The latest tangent re: UCF's scheduling philosophy is off topic. If you'd like to continue that discussion, please take it to the college/pro sports forum. I suspect @UCFVanWilder probably can bring a lot of info relevant to this week's game, if you'd like to discuss the betting odds here or general game strategy in the preview thread.

Its the precedent it would set as well. Somebody pointed at USF as an example of what we "should be doing". We said no 2 for 1s they said we will take anything. They scheduled a 2 for 1 with Loserville and literally a week later we announced a 1 for 1. Our only real avenue for longterm success is to schedule middle of the pack P5 teams that have a chance to maybe be really good when the game is finally played as well as have top members of our conference such as Memphis, Cinci, maybe Houston continue to improve.

Maybe but last time I checked ACC teams actually play defense😂. Can’t say the same for the AACbud. Not to mention ur a UCF fan in a GT forum so let’s not claim “unbiased”
Don't I recall losing to Temple a year ago? Aren't they an AAC team? Just sayin'.....I'm not sure we are in apposition to be dumping on the AAC Champs just yet....

The fact you are using last years tech team as an example makes me question how close you monitor the coaching on our team

The over @ 59.5 or you would take UCF @ -7.5?
Sorry I just made a random betting statement for the laugh.
Realistically, This game isnt getting to 59.5. We will score in the 30s, but based on what I saw from our true freshman qb last year I would think this is a perfect game for your True freshman to experience growing pains. [email protected] with the under. Im thinking 31ish to 14. Sorry guys

No. But that’s apples to oranges. We’re Power 5 team from a power conference that was a one time a conference rival of UF. We’re not a program whose first football division 1 football game was in 1996.
Yet, this is why our 2020/2021 games with Alabama were canceled. We had a deal with them and then they tried to force us to have our "Home" game in the Georgia Dome instead of at HGF@BDS. We told them to go pound sand. We've since rescheduled, but Alabama looks at us as a potential bad risk, with no upside in coming to BDS.

I really don't understand what's happening on VegasInsider vs. other sites.

Every sportsbook on VegasInsider has GT opening as a 4 point favorite, now down to 2.5 to 3 point favorites: https://www.vegasinsider.com/[email protected]/date/09-18-20

Every other site shows GT as 7 to 8 point underdogs. Ex:

It's not a timing issue. It's also not an issue where VegasInsider just reversed the spread incorrectly. Anyone figure out the reason for the variance? Seems to me VegasInsider is wrong.

Arbitrage!!! I don't gamble, so I don't even know if that's possible in the gambling world when spreads are off. You degenerate gamblers feel free to chime in. :)
