Could Gotsis have redshirted or was there some rule that prevented him from being RS'd?

I was very impressed that he got playing time last year. Must've done a good job training down under.

I'm fairly certain CPJ and crew had plans to redshirt him but he played his way into the depth chart. And maybe I'm making this up out of thin air, but I believe I read there was speculation that due to his age he might not stay in school if he graduated as a RS-Jr.
