The stories of people who forgot their passwords and are out tens and sometimes a hundred million is just crazy. I'd have that password stored in so many different locations!

That's why I don't invest in these stupid cryptos. I don't want to accumulate a massive life changing fortune and have to remember passwords to access it. So lame...

I set up the Bitcoin miner in 2011 because I listened to a podcast that discussed the crypto involved. They guy on the podcast set up an old server with the miner one evening before the podcast(you could still use a PC back then), and he had 50 Bitcoin the next morning. The total was worth much less than a penny at that point. When it first hit $10,000 he started looking for the wallet. Apparently, he destroyed the hard drive when he shut down that server. Worse than forgetting the password, he doesn't even have the wallet to try to brute force the password.

I am certain that I only ran the miner for a couple of days. However, last year I did a pretty extensive search on my computers, external hard drives, flash drives, etc. to make sure that I didn't leave it running while I wasn't paying attention and have a wallet with coins in it laying around somewhere.

I appreciate the tip. Trading restrictions at work keep me from getting on Robinhood. Coinbase's strict currency focus is another story.
Well it stinks that you can't get a Kraken account in NY, and you can't get a brokerage account because of work.

After I set up my Coinbase account, they gave me $5 of Bitcoin. That is now worth about $7. If I had just left my money in Bitcoin instead of moving it to Doge, my $200 would be up 40% instead of 25%. It is fun to watch, but I definitely wouldn't put anything into it that I am not willing to lose.

LOL story that's not so LOL now:

First time I even heard of Bitcoin was from my buddy. He invested $10K when they were worth $90 each. He sold out at around $500 each.

Today that $10K investment would have been worth $4.4+ million.

It's all fake money...
About 5 or 6 years ago, I routinely made small $20-40 purchases every two weeks. Eventually I had 2.xx BTC. The price SURGED to around $400 each and I sold both for Christmas gifts that year. Would be around 85-90k today...

Hope you didn’t put much in it. I only put a little on it to have some fun.
This. I wanted to buy it so I could look at a screen that said I thousands of doges. If it went up later on (or years later), then great.

Meanwhile, I still don't fully understand this, but some digital comic art sold for 12+ Ethereum ($25k).

I’m actually heavy into ETH, positioned very aggressively. It’s not a meme stock. I do still love my DOGE though, I check it daily. 😂

I bought a very small amount of ETH last night. I'm really just dabbling with craps table money, only it's for a long term hold, instead of a half hour in the casino.

My Litecoin is almost break even after 3+ years.

Economy is surging. Should be good times ahead for anything poised for growth. Threat of inflation is there but demand for workers is strong, opportunities abound.

Time for the millennials to get off the sofa, those on their granny’s sofa of course. The hard working millennials are killing it.

They're off the sofa trying to become TikTok stars and make that sweet sweet influencer money.
