For the old timers, we could talk about Al all day long. Radio was it - you might have one game on TV if you were lucky (usually with the Dawgs.) Three random calls come to mind among many- just typical of the Voice of the Jackets. If Tech had a particularly big defensive lineman or fast receiver - Al referred to them as the "Big Bubba or the Speedster." Once when Tech was really bad in basketball they were playing Louisville in the Metro Basketball Tournament probably in 1979-1980? . I think it was the semi finals and the Jackets were playing out of their minds. Al kept screaming , "The Tech band is going wild." You felt like you were there. Last, in the 1985 Bowl game against Michigan State Ted Roof had come into the game with a severely sprained ankle. On the first series, Roof made a big stop on third down and Al shouted, "Hey Kim. It looks like Ted Roof is up to his old tricks. " Nobody could call it like Al.
