Conference Realignment

Jim is pretty connected. Vetting is just due diligence, and isn't the same thing as getting an actual invite.

At the end of the day, we won't see anything definite for a decade.
Isn't he one of the ones that reported that the Big12 issued invites to Stanford, Cal, OS, and WS, and that the ACC had to answer by that Friday or they were all moving to the Big12? Having connections is fine, but it doesn't mean that a reporter is reliable.

Tulane has a profile more like other ACC schools but they had several really lean years. Fritz has done an amazing job there and it is a fine academic school in a fun location. Would they bring additional TV revenue seems to be the main question these days.

A few Tulane facts (factoids) from a family member who is a Tulane grad. Her reply to me this morning.

Over 80% of Tulane students are from out of state. Not many grads stay in LA.
Well over half are females, maybe close to 60%
Less than 9K undergrads; 14K total incl grad students and medical school
Students interested in football <3

No, that was the B1G guy that's a Nebraska fan. Jim was the guy who said certain schools, including GT, were being vetted by the B1G.

There was an article recently about low attendance at both Cal and Stanford games. It may be a result of the PAC conference blowing up. Those Cali folks just don't seem to be that into college football.

The Stanford part about needing an answer is most likely true. ACC was well known to have wanted both Stanford and Cal before that 8/26 tweet. Stanford joined on September 1...after a few members tried to throw their weight around. Remember the ACC vote was also delayed by tragedy on an ACC campus. Big 12 was interested in Stanford and Cal, but not the other two...Stanford and Cal wanted nothing to do with that conference. "Big 12 showing interest": does not equate into "or they were all moving to the Big12" or them getting an invite as you stated.

That tweet, for the most part, is accurate. I trust Jim on expansion more than some national writers, and there's a reason national writers are following him for that kind of news.

Feel free to believe he knows things more than other people. I don't have any trust in his "reporting, and I still call BS on the recent tweet.

I will, and you're welcome to feel however you'd like. It's not Jim's fault your memory slipped on that Big 12 tweet.
