With nothing better to do last January, I decided to compare Tech’s record against common opponents for teams in our division. I took the won/loss records of teams in our division with COMMON OPPONENTS for each season beginning 2011 through the 2017 season (Pitt excluded). I then calculated a 5 year moving average Tech vs Duke, Miami, VT, UNC, VT, UVA, and UNC to even the data. Below are the results for the 5 year moving average for years 2015, 2016, and 2017. I was going to post as a graph, but don’t know how to add an Excel graph to my post. Anyway, here are the results I calculated. Draw your own conclusions, but this data indicates to me that we are in the middle of the pack of these 5 teams. Will be interesting to see the trend in the next couple of years with our new DC.

GT: 46.9%, 48.5.9%, 50.0%; Duke: 40.6%, 42.4%, 42.5%%

GT: 47.1%, 47.1%, 44.1%; Miami: 55.9%, 58.8%, 61.8%

GT: 46.9%, 47.1%, 45.5%; VT: 59.4%, 58.8%, 60.6%

GT: 47.1%, 45.5%, 42.4%; UVA: 26.5%, 18.2%, 24.2%

GT: 52.9%, 52.9%, 50.0%; UNC: 52.9%, 58.8%, 50.0%
