Pretty good timeslot. I grew up a Bama fan by family and the Iron Bowl got this slot multiple times. It may help us that UGA is on a short week (they play the previous Saturday though against UMass) while we are on full rest (we play previous Thursday against NCSt).

It's really going to cut into my time getting up early Friday morning to stand in line and save $50 on a TV I don't need...

On serious note, there's also an expectation from schedulers that GT will at least be decent this year.

Friday night in Athens? Should make for some interesting police reports & insurance claims for keyed cars & slashed tires, not to mention the Assault & Batterys + Drunk & Disorderlys. It's bad enough for day games. The Clarke County bail bondsmen will be very busy.

Nope. Not no how, not no way. NONBHN.

The SEC has more teams and less network slots to air games on. Things have to be moved around. Egg Bowl got moved also.

u(sic)ga is pre-paying the bonds for the football team, so that will cut the bail bondsmen’s workload in half.

Not a big deal this year since we play the Thursday before but could be in future years if we play on Saturday. We all know that's basically a bye week for every SEC school besides Tennessee who gets their bye week when they play their enormous rival Vanderbilt.

So this announcement makes me look at this from a logistics point of view. Unfortunately, the football team buses need to be pulling out from campus by 3:30- 4:00 on Thanksgiving. Only the real local guys can eat a quick meal at home with their families. So I would imagine the team gets into Commerce or wherever they are staying about 5:30. Check in, eat dinner and have some position meetings. May be watch a movie- or better yet watch the entire 2014 game. Probably most of our guys have never seen it? Friday -- get ready to roll. I think the switch helps us. To me , Sanford Stadium is tougher for road teams during the day. The Bulldogs are more familiar with the routine of a day game in Athens. The last night game we played in Athens in 2010- Georgia fumbled the opening kickoff. Of course we had a 21 point first quarter lead on them in 2013 in a night game in Atlanta and last year the Dawgs fumbled to us on their first offensive play. Can our defense stop their run game? If so - we can win.
