I do think that Coach Johnson is HOF worthy but it is his work from GA Southern and Navy that must be added to his time at Georgia Tech! I think the Georgia Tech number sho is that his system did work at the P-5 level however it was not as dominate as it was at the FCS level or G5 level. IIWII Good Luck Coach Johnson!! See ya in the HOF!

I would also add that CPJ seems to retain a top graduation rate wherever he goes. I did a quick 5 min google search, and a cursory glance shows that he almost doubled GT's grad rate [1] and had Navy at #1 in the country [2]. I didn't find any quantitative numbers for his time at GSU, but found academic accolades referencing CPJ in a 2009 article about GSU [3]. Combined with a clean reputation to my knowledge (and I expect if there was dirt, it would've been found by some of his unfriendly brushes with media), that is remarkable.

There are 9 bowl teams with a Graduation Success Rate of at least 90%.
Link
https://accfootballrx.blogspot.com/2018/12/links-news-and-rumors-122918.html

Northwestern 99%
Duke 96%
Vanderbilt 95%
Notre Dame 95%
Stanford 95%
Utah 95%
South Carolina 93%
Utah State 92%
Virginia Tech 90%

hmmmm.... Interesting that Georgia Tech is not on this list...
There is no reason so disrespect GT like that. Everyone claims it is hard to get out of Tech, this is just another example that highlights it. The graduation rate for normal students is 81.5%. Expecting our athletes to be 10% over the average student is pretty nuts (we come in at 86% which is pretty damn good).

The average for normal Duke students is 94.8%. For Stanford it's 94.6%. Color me shocked their athletes graduate near their student population.

These schools are apples and oranges.

Sorry if you feel I disrespected GT becuase I posted an article about Bowl teams with a Graduation Success Rate of at least 90%. Do I think Georgia Tech should be on the list... Yes...

I do not buy the excuse it is to hard at Georgia Tech... I think the reason why we are at 86% is do to transfers.... So I wonder how many transfer players it would have taken to stay to raise the 86% to 90%

Quick List I may have forgoten a few...

I assume you stopped reading my post. The average graduation rate for a normal student is 13% lower than Duke or Stanford. I don’t see how it can be viewed differently than GT being harder to get out when the difference is that big. Asking for the athletes to be 10% better than the student population is unfair.

Also, I should not have used the word disrespect, I meant misrepresent. I feel like our athletes do an amazing job at being students and it sells them short to say they don’t make some list where they started out behind the 8 ball.

Good numbers. CPJ never lost to BC though. The Matt Ryan game was in Chan's last year.

Not so fast. I haven’t bothered to look it up but I am pretty sure that you get credit is a player transfers and graduates from another school. Still 86% grad rate for the football team is ridiculous. Find another school who has a Fb grad rate higher than the overall student body.

On that list most of them are better but by a smaller margin. VT is notably larger than their general students (9% better). VT and GT are kinda different, but they do a good job with their student athletes (I know nothing of their majors).

Anyone else surprised that CPJ OOC record vs P-5/G-5 Schools was 18-21.... I wonder if that hurt our programs overall recruiting efforts that and CPJ awful Bowl record....

No, I knew that because I track just P5 opponents. He's been basically a .500 coach against P5 opponents - which is similar to some previous GT coaches.
I like being realistic and analytical about looking at things. Johnson wasn't a great coach at GT, he wasn't a bad coach, he was a very good HC and GT was fortunate to have him for a decade.

If you want me to rank coaches during my lifetime as a GT fan they would go as follows
Ross
O'Leary
Johnson
Gailey
Curry
Lewis.

Different folks can have different views on the top 3 imo.
