Chappell Rhino, father of Randy and Danny Rhino, and grandfather of Kelly Rhino, has died from complications with leukemia.

Chappell played on Bobby Dodd’s 1952 National Championship team.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

And perhaps, with that startling halfback touchdown pass against Auburn on third down -- One Pass Rhino he was to be known thereafter, as he never threw another -- responsible for that undefeated NC season. But that family, beginning with Chappell, through his sons and then grandson playing for Tech, is a remarkable story. That must have been cause for some great Thanksgiving Day stories, don't you think?

I guess Danny never had a son who played football. Wonder if Kelley has one coming up.

Kelly does have a young son, who is an excellent athlete, but it looks like he is going to be really small. His sport will probably end up being baseball or soccer.
