We can win with him or without him. No one is irreplaceable.

Go Jackets!
Love the tough guy, can do attitude JJ but I just checked the numbers and in the prior 10 years pre-Buster (a reasonable sample size imo) we were 56 - 66. Just saying.

If you are that confidant then a Roof level coach is available to replace him.

Dumb post.

There is a reason why our offense dramatically reduces its capabilities when King is out. Just like if we lost an A-Level coach and replaced them with a C level coach.
You will win but not as many

What has he done that is so spectacular? He looses awareness of where the game is. He isn't the reason for the improved QB production. Chris Weinke has had a lot of say in that. Chris is the reason Buster's door is always open to politely go pee on a fire hydrant. The man we can't loose is the leading the program to brighter days and his name is Brent Key.

I'm not losing any sleep over Buster going somewhere else.
If Buster gets poached somewhere, we probably become one of the most appealing jobs in the country for promising OC's to elevate their careers. As in people will take lower pay just for the structural opportunities CBK provides his staff.

I bet Faulkner's next job is a head coaching job anyway.

You can't worry about good people leaving for better jobs with more pay. Means you are picking good people. I like Key but I've previously said that his one weakness is he doesn't run one side of the ball like a lot of great coaches. Saban defense, CPJ offense, Spurrier offense - these are examples but it halves the need to hire good coordinators. Deal with people leaving when it happens but have a plan for the next candidate and be in communication with them so they know you when you come calling. I'm sure we have a plan. Enjoy our coordinators we have now - they are doing great jobs.

I think Buster is a terrific OC. He has made a pretty huge impact on the program. He isn’t perfect but he’s absolutely one of the better OCs we’ve had in the last 40 years (I use that since it was 40 years ago that I was a freshman at GT and first became a GT football fan, not having grown up down here).

With that having been said I think I’ve seen enough in Key’s short time as our head coach to believe that he will do a great job of finding the next one when Buster is hired away.

This 1000%. In fact I know Key wants people who are hungry to move up in the coaching profession. He’s purposely fostering the kind of environment where they can showcase themselves and move on like his mentors Saban and even George O’Leary wanted to do.

We should still have a good OL next year and if HK leaves, Philo looks to be one of the best high potential qb's in the country. He may just want to stick around for at least another year to coach these guys.

I doubt HK leaves. There's no NFL on the horizon for him in 2025 and he's not going to find better coaches to get him to the NFL than Buster Faulkner and Chris Weinke. I think our NIL game is good enough to match any offer he gets from factory schools.

I read where Pgilo was Buster's pick as a QB recruit and Knowles was Winke's pick. If that is indeed true, whatever King and Pyron decide what is best for themselves, I am not worried about our QB room for next year.

Head scratching to me is the drop off in Zach. Something is a miss there.

Brent is disciple of two legendry coaching trees Saban and O'Leary. His contacts are emense so replacing talented coaches with talented coaches is highly probable. Tech football is about to be dangerous. With Key not being offense or defense strong it allows him not to g
be married to any one system.
