So the Braves are reportedly interested in FA pitcher, Nate Eovaldi. He is 34 years old and just declined a $20M QO from the Rangers.

That puts him into the likely range of Fried (mid-20’s). Eovaldi will no doubt want a 3-5 year contract at an AAS near $25M. However, unless Fried just goes full-on Dansby Swanson, that is where he will likely land, albeit for 5-6 years.

Hmm. IMPO, this doesn’t have to be this hard every time the Braves have a major player over 30 becoming a FA.

You lost me here. You thinking that's the contract he'll likely land or are you saying he'll likely land in TX replacing Eovaldi?

And as expected, the Braves just extended a QO to Fried for $21.5M.

Sorry, poorly worded. "That is where he will likely land" refers to that price range - $25M or so.

In light of the Jimenez injury reports, do we try to make a trade for Devin Williams? His projected arb salary is only $8M which is $1M more than what we declined to pay Luke Jackson. If AA is going to skimp out on starting pitching, he better build an elite bullpen. Depending on the prospect cost, I'd say go for it, or sign Tanner Scott.

Not only Jimenez, but now we learn that neither Strider nor Acuna will be ready for opening day either. We actually kind of suspected this, right? So, how is AA approaching it? In his usual closed-mouth way. The guy could be CIA for all we know. The whole Fried thing is following the same path that FF and DS did. It's getting kind of old, TBH. Just sign the darn players, AA.

I’ve heard rumblings about us being connected to Michael Conforto filling in while Acuna is out then being a bench player. For approximately $5M, I think that would be a steal for a solid bat and decent fielder along with winning postseason experience.

Is it the money? The cost?
A few reasons but most of all the prospect cost for an already depleted farm system. If you’re going to throw the farm at someone, I’d rather it not be these two. IMO, Crochet is a feast or famine pitcher who is a better reliever than starter. Roberts is a player we just don’t need as we have Kelenic, Harris, and Acuna when healthy. If we trade Kelenic then maybe, but his value isn’t that great right now. Just too much to give up for me and not enough in return.
