Was at the game tonight and loved watching DK on the bump. 3 runs in his last 25 innings and the guy is a ground ball machine. As much fuss is being made about the gnats and dodgers with their starting pitchers, I’m confident in Soroka, Fried, DK, and even Teheran in a 5-7 game series.

I think the main thing with us right now, outside of staying/getting healthy is that we have to cut down in the strikeouts.

I remember back when we had the Uptons and Uggla; the argument was always that strikeouts are fine if we are hitting homers here and there. Well it didn’t work out too well with those teams, because we quickly realized unproductive outs get you nowhere!

This team knows the difference (based on the early season results) but we have been lacking in that department lately. Timely hitting is one thing, but I’d like to see a conscious effort to play abc baseball from here on out cause that’s what it’s gonna take in the postseason. And it’s got to come from the manager as well, not just the players.

McCann is back today for Atlanta. Won 9 of last 10 games.
Doolittle and Zimmerman return for Washington. Won 8 of last 10 games(15 of 18).
I remain concerned about Doolittle. I have not heard a guy be more honest in interviews regarding his health & play/execution. While he seems relatively healthy & clearly will compete & wants to... it just seems he can't find "it".... still. He talks about constant mechanical adjustments he's working on. He says the spin rate is down on his fastball... which is his only pitch really.

I hope Davey will just keep Hudson in the closer role until Doolittle can make more progress figuring himself out. We shall see. The Nationals bullpen is a liability...for sure.

Strasburg was incredible last night. His 1st inning went: out/1B/1B/DP.
PERFECT innings 2-8.
