I am anxious to see how the new OC and QB coach can help Sims. We were way too predictable before and Sims seemed to wait a beat too long waiting for his primary to come open rather than throwing on the break. Yates actually did that better -at times- than Sims. That extra beat is that much harder for the OL to hold. I hope our OC can be imaginative enough to keep the rush off balance better than last couple of years. I have no idea what improvement to expect from the D.

That happened frequently. If Sims can just speed up his timing a little, our passing game will get a lot more potent.

from what i’ve heard from different sources is that when we decided to move to a modern offense it was gonna be very difficult to entice someone to come without giving themselves a lot of protection in the form of a long contract/buyout.

part of that comes from the playcalling and based on long’s film in the past we’ll see that.

patenaude thought we had the cowboys o line or something cause the passing plays were all designed like we had a year to sit in the pocket

i would also add if we have a strong recruiting class and we wanna move on we better have someone good in the docket to follow him up. would be a great way to end up with a miserable recruiting class

If he gets some big wins, 6 wins will mean he'll also have losses to some crummy ones. To my way of thinking, 6 wins against our overall schedule is six wins, period.

Talent on roster is still increasing when you factor in average star rating of new recruits + incoming transfers. Too many of yall are hung up on the transfers coming in having proved nothing at their previous school. Many of these kids transferring were backing up multi year or NFL caliber starters. Just like many of the young kids on our current roster, we have no idea what they're capable of. Last year we saw a D with Yeh/Carpenter/Swilling who collectively have played alot of snaps severely underperform in the secondary. To be frank, I'm really excited to see what the young unproven players can bring to the table going into the 2022 season. It cant be much worse than last year by many statistics. This doom and gloom crap everyone is spewing is just getting OLD at this point. You all must be alot of fun to hang around. I'm choosing optimism over pessimism. Go Jackets!

I know we had a complete change in OL after 2018, but if the 2020 OLs couldn't beat out the CPJ OLs in 2021, are we really expecting that much of a change once the 2020 and 2021 OLs get on the field?

Hmmmmm. I can remember making the same point about some of Paul's classes. You can guess what the reaction usually was.

Oth, I do think this is a batter way to evaluate where a recruiting class actually stands. If you don't have spots available, you can't recruit lights out. The overall rankings are a combo of stars and numbers.

Btw, I'm not all that impressed with our transfers. We'll see.

Yes and no. It takes more time to develop recruits for the OL. Always has.

Also, in 2021, the only CPJ OL to get major playing time was Minihan. We were starting lots of transfers and young guys on the OL.

This year would be the earliest we should see major progress on OL. Unfortunately for CGC, it's 2023 when we should have built to critical mass on OL. He wasted a lot of goodwill with his demeanor and refusal to make changes after year 2.

Perhaps. But, 7 years for a coach with no real experience as a head coach (two years at Temple that were worse than his predecessor) was a horrendous decision. If this was his dream job, he would've taken a 5 year deal any day of the week. And if he refused and was stuck on a 7 year deal and we went for someone else, we likely would've gotten a better coach in the end......:rolleyes:

It looks like somebody beat them out. CPJ recruit? LT, No; LG sometimes, Cooper; C, starter, Minihan; RG, No; RT, No.
