Honestly, not much to get excited about or upset about with that article.
Basically says Collins hasn't lived up to expectations (mentions that Collins and Elliott were the 2 he gently suggested 3 years ago) and that he has to get better this year or it will likely be his last.

Im not sure what the point of that article was. Collins promised big, and hasn't delivered to this point. Not exactly insightful commentary. Felt like someone told him to write something about Tech and that was the best he could come up with at the moment.

This article would have value if it was in a real newspaper instead of the digital version. At least that way I could use the newspaper to line my cat’s litter box or start a campfire.

It's kind of a season preview column. Kind of standard fare. In line with what Bradley usually feels about our program, though...

If you know mark bradley, then this article ain’t nothing new. Even without Collins coaching here, he takes every dump on Tech he can get.

I’m so sick of being a laughing stock. I need a win Monday night or I will be headed to the psych ward.

Win or gtfo at this point.

Mark Bradley is highly respected at the AJC--they think he's one of the best sportswriters around. He probably has a good amount of latitude about what he writes but is encouraged to spread his columns around and does so willingly.

There is a split in the AJC sports pages--some of the writers are opinion writers (like Bradley), and some are beat writers (like Suguira). You're going to get more news from Suguira.

It reads like a column intended for people who haven't kept up with Tech football at all and aren't aware that we've had three painfully bad seasons. How many people like that read a Mark Bradley column on Georgia Tech is another question, but I think the answer is "not many".

If you've logged into this board and read a few posts, there's nothing newsworthy in that piece, other than the fact that Bradley thought the hire was promising back when it happened. Bradley is mostly a basketball writer and isn't going to get into the values of 12 vs 10 personnel or anything schematic in football and the roles that coaches or players fit within. He hardly does that in basketball.

One of the stats analysts I follow posted recently "if you want to understand what's happening in a game, diagram what's happening during the game or from a recording afterwards". That's the kind of thing that John Madden used to do during a football game. You get some of that from Tony Romo during an NFL game. You're not getting that in this article or from the AJC.

(I still recommend getting a subscription for local coverage, especially for local news)

Not to be too pedantic, but this is a column, not an article.
Bradley writes columns, in which he gives his opinion. Unfortunately.
Ken writes articles, in which he may lend some perspective but refrains from offering opinion.

Since I live far away, I did not know whether "Bark Madley" was even writing anymore. It always seemed, way back in the late 80's when I lived in Georgia, when we were doing well, he would give credit. But he is not much of a "hype" guy, IMO, and this is his opinion about the current state of our program. Generally writers have to write something to get paid, so he picked some low hanging fruit and got a paycheck. No big deal.... and he might have written a lot worse.

I have been reading Mark Bradley for many years now. I don't really think of him as a hack like many others. He writes decent columns at times and backs them up with data and usually decent personal thoughts. I just don't know what the exact point of this particular piece is. Even for people who aren't GT fans. GT is bad. If they keep being bad they might need a new coach would have conveyed the same information. The only odd part of the piece to me was the end. He randomly throws Todd Monken out there as a potential replacement. That's obviously not going to happen.
