ACC Preseason Media Poll

Have you looked at their schedule? They play mostly teams that are picked in the bottom half of the conference. Going by this pre-season poll, their conference games are 2, 3, 9, 11, 12, 14, 16, and 17. Their OOC games are: Vandy, Marshall, Old Dominion, and Rutgers. If they can't win 7-8 games against that schedule they are worse off than I think they are.

BTW, GT's in conference schedule is 1, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 11, 12. OOC with ND and the mutts. If you put VT against that schedule, I would be shocked if they won 7-8 games. I also think their pre-season press polling position would be much lower than 6th.
While we’re playing this game, how much did SMU grease the ACC for their schedule?
They get 1,5…. 10,11,13,14,16,17.
I don’t know how good they are but the schedulers sure as heck rolled out the red carpet for them. Said in another thread…wouldn’t it be the most “ACC” thing in the world for them to pull an upset against Lville and beat up the bottom half of the conference to go 7-1 and land in the ACCCG in their first year of P4 football?
I have no ill will toward SMU, but I am sure not rooting for them this year… that embarrassment would be too much to bear.

In SMUs defense, they will likely be scheduled against Stanford and Cal every year for travel reasons, so the #10 team and the #17 team were unavoidable for them.
But is sure was nice of the ACC to sandwich the rest of their schedule between those 10 and 17 teams!

GT is built, not bought.
Didn't we just announce a record-breaking fundraising year ourselves? https://ramblinwreck.com/a-t-fund-shatters-single-year-fundraising-record-fy24/

Here is CBSSports rankings of each ACC teams full schedule.

GT at #1 hardest as usual.
In the previous ACC scheduling model, the Yellow Jackets annually faced one of the toughest schedules in the league, carrying Clemson as a cross-division rival in conference play to pair with the annual game against Georgia in "Clean, Old Fashioned Hate." Now, Georgia Tech faces a schedule that, for the first time since 1983, does not include the Tigers but does include five of the top six teams in the league and a nonconference showdown with Notre Dame in the Falcons stadium. Plus, there are logistics to consider as well with the Week 0 season-opener against Florida State taking place in Dublin.

Syracuse ranked as having the easiest schedule.

Their SoS rankings went
GT
Clemson
Stanford
FSU
UVA
L'ville
BC
Cal
Wake
Miami
Duke
Pitt
NC ST
SMU
UNC
VT
Syracuse

Here is CBSSports 134 rankings.
GT comes in at #53 in the pre-season ranking.

ACC teams were ranked at the following spots.
#8 ND (i'm including since they play alot of ACC schools)
#13 FSU
#14 Clemson
#16 Miami
#24 NC ST
#26 L'ville
#28 SMU
#29 VT
#44 UNC
#48 Duke
#50 Cal
#53 GT
#59 BC
#68 Syracuse
#77 Pitt
#78 Wake
#84 Stanford
#86 UVA

Quick thoughts.
GT is #11 overall in the ACC in their poll.
IF Miami doesn't live up close to its hype this year than Cristobal is going to be in some very hot water.
VT is getting alot of hype, but it returns most of its production from last season. It did lose to every good team on its schedule last year.
NC ST has been very good under Doreen the last few years and has an easier schedule this year than the last few. 26 wins its last 3 years (9-8-9 including 2 wins over Clemson).
SMU won 11 games last year and returns alot of production. Stepping up in class, but it has a chance with an easier schedule to win alot again this season.
I think Duke is too high. I'm not sold on Diaz as a coach.

Does he ever stay any one place more than a couple of years? Mack already complaining coaches are using his age against him in recruiting. Called out Elko specifically when he was at Duke. It wouldn't surprise me though for TFG to talk his way into the job.
I’ve got my fingers crossed, a rabbit’s foot in my pocket, a four leaf clover on my desk and a horseshoe hanging over my door.

Yes, but SMU doubled us $159 million to $78 million.

And, as Eric Dickerson can tell you, SMU was doing NIL well before NIL became a "thing"... :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:
Yes we raised less and for sure they bought a very nice Pony Express back in the day 🐎

I'm pretty confident that if we get more money to spend on NIL that we'll spend it on the best players we can, just like everyone else now that it's a "thing" ;)

When we beat FSU, I guess we'll be in the Top 15 then?

I encounter a lot of Colorado fans regularly, and thus spend a good deal of time thinking back to that magical 1990 season - and remembering how you can even go undefeated and still have people vote you down.

My take on our SoS ranking is that it will only help us when we go undefeated.

Pot is legal out there, right? That would explain it.
Speaking of that.

There's a hill above the stadium at Cal where you can watch the whole game while sitting in the woods with your buds and significant others. ABC sent a reporter up there for one of their games to get "local color". When they switched to her report the dope smoke around her was so deep that it was hard to see the field at times. She tried to explain what was going on without even referring to the dope. Her words were right, but her eyes and smiling face gave her away. I've seldom enjoyed a college local color bit more than that one. I think she had a contact high herself.
