The funniest thing is seeing all these Vol fans this morning get upset because the best they could do was Dave Doeren and then he turns them down too. This may be the best coaching search ever because they did all this **** to themselves after they had a good coach already on board.

It would be wild if UT hired Mike Leach:LOL::ROFLMAO::hilarious:

One of the better fan quotes I've seen on the SEC board ..

I wonder if Vols fans realize that, in dodging the bullet, they essentially dove off a bridge.

Ha. More like they dodged a softball by diving off a bridge. Hmm, maybe I should've just stolen that guy's line.

I think Greg Schiano would have been another Butch Jones at Tennessee and so would have Dave Doeren;)

This stuff can get into such a cycle that it gets radioactive and no established coach is going to want to touch it at any price. They might be forced to go down low to an unproven up and comer or promote an assistant internally for a year. But you know, that's what 5 coaches in 11 years will do to you. Butch Jones was calling recruits telling them to go elsewhere. Tennessee fans were calling recruits telling them about Schiano. If that type of environment is not radioactive, I don't know what is. They've had a top 10 recruiting class for several years and can't do anything with it.

Mike Houston of James Madison would be the guy if Tennessee has to do that

Clay Travis said Jimmy Haslem called the Politicians who protested the hiring of Greg Schiano and told them "You don't make the hires we do(The Haslems)!" That is the problem with the Tennessee Athletic Department right now!

When you find yourself stuck with a coach who is good but not good enough, the problem often isn’t him.
It’s infrastructure. It’s history. It’s program support. It’s something other than the head coach. But the head coach is the easiest thing to change, so schools follow the same fruitless road over and over and over again.
