1988 flashback: Desmond Howard almost a Yellow Jacket?

I was doing some research - trying to find the Technique story on the GT v. Michigan basketball game at the Omni - the Tip-Off Classic game to start the 1985 season.

Then I found this article which indicates that we were an eyelash from signing future Heisman Trophy winner Desmond Howard to the 1988 recruiting class.

Desmond Howard: down to Michigan and Georgia Tech.

All this time and I did not know this.
