I’ve done posts the last few years about the history of GT football. Last year’s was at https://gtswarm.com/threads/112-years-of-gt-football-how-bad-were-we-last-year.9020/

Heavier on charts and less words this year.

CPJ is solidly in the same performance grouping with O’Leary and Gailey. Note I said performance grouping and not whether one coach would be better than another in today’s environment.

There are always a lot of posts about how well we’ll do in a season based on the previous year. What is clear is that we have been more erratic under CPJ than O’Leary or Gailey.

This chart shows that we have been increasing the SoS over the past three years. I’d attribute that to the rise of the ACC overall. Interesting that we had a fairly high SoS in 2105 even without a bowl game.

"we had a fairly high SoS in 2105" So how far into the future can you see? ;)

LOL, that'll teach you to trust anything I type.

Our 2017 SOS is projected by J Howell to .664. (http://www.jhowell.net/cf/cf2017.htm). That is only regular season. We ended last year with an SOS of .672 including the bowl. So our 2107 SOS should be about the same as 2106.

And thus 9 wins is still my median expectation.

After the VT game on Nov 11th, we have a power ranking of .634. http://www.jhowell.net/cf/cf2017.htm That is almost exactly CPJ's 9 year average of .643.

CPJ, O'Leary and Ross all had about the same results. People can emphasize that these about different times and how it's harder to be GT now. That may or may not be true as there are always challenges for any program. I think there more structural challenges to recruiting for all mid-level schools like us and with the increased money required it's only going to get harder.

It is as it is. Might as well enjoy it.
