I share this perspective. The challenge is clear to me (we need more money) and while I would (and do) prioritize my money going to the highest benefit that isn't for me to decide how to spend others' donations.

Generally I get your point, that there are other things we could fund to improve our position. That said, the money was specified for a particular use. Unwinding the capital campaign that drove the fundraising would be unduly burdensome in my estimation and it is difficult to clearly articulate...
