    TV Options

What is the most cost effective way to get all of Tech's games on TV? NIU is on the ACC network. KSU is on ACC RSN--I guess that's now Bally. We are less than 3 weeks until football begins. I am trying to decide which way to go, and perhaps others are as well. Any thoughts are appreciated.

    Freshman QBs at Tech

I thought about Reggie Ball after yesterday and found this article: https://georgiatech.rivals.com/news/tech-legends-reggie-ball I have always felt that Reggie got a bum rap from a lot of fans. He needed better coaching and he could have been a very good one.

Game you most want to win in 2020

We don't play the hated Dwags this year. So what game do you want to win above all others? For me, it's Duke. We've lost 5 of the last 6 to them. That's ridiculous.

    A history lesson

One year, GT scored 110 points against our nine 1-A (FBS) opponents. That's about 12 points per game. We lost all 9 games. Who was our OC? Ralph Friedgen. 1987 was a similar situation to the one we have in 2019. Curry ran a "3 yards and cloud of dust" offense. Ross came in...

    Tech Admissions and You

You may have seen this article in the ajc: https://www.ajc.com/news/local/georgia-tech-too-elite/FU5cY79ag9U7R16dV9ilUI/ I have been through college admissions with two sons in the last 3 years. The point of this post is that Tech Admissions does not value legacies. Not at all. That is not...

    Legacy Admissions to GT

Interesting coincidence. I traveled 1000 miles this weekend to visit UT Austin with my son. I liked the city and the campus. I can understand the move by Parker Braun. I may get to see him play there next year. My son was admitted to UT's Computational Engineering program, which has a...

    Commitment to basketball success

Recruiting is about building relationships. Cremins did it so well. Recent coaches at GT (in football and basketball) have done it so poorly. Pastner seems to be able to build relationships, but his judgment hasn't been good about the level of that relationship. His relationship with Watson...

Georgie U. and the PGA tour

From the London Evening Standard: "ESPN asked 103 Tour professionals which player they would be least likely to help if they saw them in a fight in a car park. Reed came second, with only Bubba Watson more unpopular." Both attended UGA. What a redneck school.

    ACC Tournament

This double bye format is ridiculous. Let's face it--it benefits Duke and UNC, who will almost always be top 4 seeds. Imagine that--the ACC helping UNC and Duke! I suppose the argument is that it gives a team needing a win to get into the big dance a better chance to get one. A team like...

    Kudos to the coaching staff

2016 was the best coaching job from Spring to New Year ’s Eve of the last 9 years. Football is a line of scrimmage game. To win 8 FBS games while being overmatched at the line of scrimmage in most of them is virtually a miracle. The coaches on both sides of the line of scrimmage did a good...

    Cheating

Interesting article. Cheating was rampant in football and basketball in the '70's and '80's. I am sure it still goes on, but not like in those days. http://www.courier-journal.com/story/sports/tim-sullivan/2015/12/24/confessions-college-hoops-slimeball/77318732/

    Gregory and Overcoaching

I used to hate it when Bobby Cremins talked about "chemistry." I thought chemistry was a code word for "I don't know how to coach them, so they need to play together and figure it out on their own." Bobby was a leader, but he was no x's and o's genius. But there is truth to "chemistry." The...

    Bobinski and the GTAA

I was a 30 year A-T contributor. The key word is "was." In the 1980's, I was very involved with the GTAA. Homer Rice knew how to keep contributors involved within NCAA rules, and knew that involvement went hand in hand with contributions. Our subsequent AD's have not been so wise. Through...
