  1. The ACC will delay the start of competition for all fall sports until at least Sept. 1

Notre Dame is a non-conference football team. This is their holy grail. Never join a football conference . They are obligated to play 4 ACC football teams every year in order to compete as an in-conference ACC basketball team. Not football. When you negotiate with ND, you do...
  2. The ACC will delay the start of competition for all fall sports until at least Sept. 1

So UGA , a team that always loves quarterback controversy, takes a cast-off quarterback from U of Sou Cal. I think Kirby wants every player to try out for QB and then decides where they should play. Never has a top-tier team missed so often on QB talent. Deshawn Watson and Trevor...
  3. Tyler Davis Drafted

Davis isn't a pro ? Okay. The Jags are not an NFL team.
  4. Tyler Davis Drafted

Yes Davis was obscure at Tech. We didn't use him. It was probably almost as much of a shame as not being able to use the great Calvin Johnson because we didn 't have a QB who could get the ball to him.
  5. Tyler Davis Drafted

Davis was a predicted late round selection. If you see his film, he can carry defenders and the ball across the goal line. To put it another way, Tom Brady could make Davis an all-pro.
  6. If you are bored

Thank goodness there is still some life on this board. Life goes on . What is the problem at ESPN ? They are showing reruns of last seasons bowl games. Ok. Some of these are worth watching. Why not show last years NCAA March Madness ? I'll bet less than 25 % of us will remember who...
  7. What's the takeaway with the number of transfers?

Midtown Jacket: Right on. The NCAA knows who it can pick on. This season's ban would never have occured to NC, Duke, Kansas or others. GT has known it has a target on its back since, as you mentioned, the Dimarius Thomas $300 clothing incident.
  8. What's the takeaway with the number of transfers?

As far a CJP's future, he went a long way to cementing it this season. 5th in the conference. I have always held that if an ACC goes .500 in conference, that team, by definition , is an NCAA tourney worthy team.
  9. Kristian Sjolund to Transfer

Since Sjolund wants to leave, will that increase the chance that Cole will return ?
  10. Evan Cole to Transfer

Perhaps I'm wrong but it seems to me that for the first time in years we are concerned about who stays which means that most of us, including myself, believe we have strong talent. The transfer business is beginning to worry me. It seems that any school can now go after any other school's...
  11. NCAA Tournament & COVID-19

March madness generates, at this point, $850 million for the NCAA which is the biggest revenue stream by far. I can't imagine what it would be like if this had occurred two months earlier and the 4 team NCAA football championship and the Super Bowl were cancelled.
  12. Mark Richt at GT

I have gotten over CMR. He looks good in the Tech jacket. I know he is there as an ACC network analyst which is fine. What I am delighted about is the great Marco Coleman being there. Super. Loved the gold shirt with the T logo that Collins was wearing. Judging only by the photos, CMR...
  13. Evan Cole to Transfer

A disapointment. Surely, Cole will have a lot of offers to transfer. Pastner says he want Cole to stay. I hope that with assurances of more playing time, Cole will decide to stay at Tech. I can tell (just an opinion) that he can be a big contributor. With Cole back, along with the...

Wright must learn how to score when he gets to the basket. When he drives, no one stops him. He must learn how to put the ball through the hoop and I think he will.
  15. Game Thread - @ Clemson, 3/6/2020

So Tech is the sole possesor of 5th place in the conference. Their disqualification to proceed further irritates me to no end. I have a hard time with this. Most of you, all good GT fans, don't appear to be as irritated as I am. I wish I wasn't. These kids deserve better and I fault the...

I knew Josh and his father 25 years ago. His dad is extremely competitive. I am very proud of this years team. I have finally understood the considerable contribution of James Banks. Maybe I'm slow. He is not a scoring machine but he is a defensive monster. And, more importantly, he...
  17. Game Thread - @ Clemson, 3/6/2020

Appreciate very much the attached Pastner interview after the game. Next year should be terrific BUT, as some have already mentioned, this team remains a turnover machine. And they have not improved at all. 19 turnovers last night. Gruesome.
  18. Game Thread - @ Clemson, 3/6/2020

I was at this game tonight along with 2 other Tech fans. Sad , really. Clemson had a strong fan turnout. Tech surged at the end of both halves. Devoe finally took over at the end of the 2nd half after being pounded under the basket all night. Its shameful that this team will not continue...
  19. Game Thread - Pitt, 3/4

Great night tonight. This was the Jackets best game of the year. Defense was simply awesome. Banks was terrific and he will be missed. Loved the 3 pointer by Phillips at the end. Tech was in command the entire game and has grown tremendously. Josh has accomplished a lot this year...
  20. Introduce yourself

Class of 70 which makes me an old timer. Best era ? 1990 national championship - Sean Jones, Bobby Ross and one of the greatest ADs in history, Dr Homer Rice. Attended the final four in Denver in 1988 featuring Tech ( coached by the great Bobby Cremins ) , UNLV, Duke and Arkansas. Reason...
