It just depends on how good the kid is as a freshman. Shaq Mason and Andrew Marshall both got meaningful snaps in this offense as freshman and played well. If you mean just the offense this year I still think its possible, but you are probably right.
We got in a funk as a team and a fan base after we beat them several years in a row. A lot of people acted like we "owned" Miami and walked around beating their chest. I think it is naive to think that that kind of attitude doesn't trickle down to the team(we don't live in a world anymore...
Its nice that we put stuff like this out. I think we are all hoping he can build on last year when he is fully healthy. I think he fits a lot better with Justin because he can go a little bit more full speed.
Offense:
Michael Summers - Can he take that jump and be our #1 wr target? He has to have the most career catches coming back and is known for some break away speed. Can he take the next step.
Dennis Andrews - Can he be our #1 AB? We have a history of ABacks coming out of nowhere to produce...
I watched this game at a Taco Mac that was about 80/20 UGA to Tech fans. The barking/woofing throughout the game was a little more than I like to take, but the silence was priceless after the kick and the pick.
They also spent an entire segment pointing out that the fans didn't show up for the game and Kincaid said that it must be because we aren't entertained by CPJ's brand of football.
I think our D will be better and I agree that Smelter(and our other senior backs/receivers will be big losses), but I will be optimistic next year. Our offensive line is soooooo much better than any oline I have seen in the PJ era and Justin Thomas will get better.
I have really enjoyed watching the team this year. Our guys have bought in our system, believe, and it shows. If we can keep that trait year in and year out, we will only get better with the kids we are recruiting these days.
