A quick cross check says this will be the highest (or lowest, depending on how you look at it) rated academic matchup in a national championship game since the inception of the CFP and I think all the way back to the 2005 Texas/USC matchup. Per USNWR 2024 ratings anyways.

I think if you want to keep sliding down the slippery slope, if you separate the academics, is there a need for the Freshman-Senior designation anymore? What’s to say a player has to leave after 4 years only to potentially make less money on an NFL rookie contract?

You talk about folks hidden on the OL. I saw Lay in the game a few times. I know he filled in admirably last year during some injuries/COVID but you have to wonder why we are still playing walkons with a full compliment of scholarship OL available.

I wanted to see him on the field more at the end when they started trying to run over us. I don’t think he or Stone are on the ATL chart but have seen them make plays more than the ones that are.
